What are people putting the clip position on with the "fat boy" spring? I'm getting ready to reinstall it and don't want to take it out again. I'm 275 w/o gear. I'm thinking of 2nd clip cam 1?

I am about 240 with gear and on stock first clip, cam 1 and can run with RA on full soft only bottoming on the really big bump you expect to bottom on.

i run clip position #1 and cam on #4 ra soft side about #4 great ride no bottom and i go appox 260 lb`s with gear, have 1200km with sping in so it should be sagged to.

Was on 1st clip, #7 and full firm on the preload adjustment knob. Bottomed on med & large bumps. Just had the clip put onto the 2nd position and have backed off to #4 and mid preload..let you know how it goes next week. 200lb's with out gear.

Is that with the stock spring?

Big Boy on mine...Clip #1 and Cam position #3. RA adjuster is anywhere between full soft to 4 clicks soft of center. 275 without gear. Very happy with the results. Best $100 I spent on my Attak. When you take out the stock spring and compare it to the big boy you will notice a pretty big difference in the size of the coils.

We found that on the short track sleds rtx/er if you adjust the ra control to max hard it will build up and kick you,it appears that even if you do not get the big boy spring and you leave the clip at #1 and turn the cam to #7 do not turn your ra to max hard,or it will seem like it bottoms out even harder, soften it up at least half way between the soft and hard, and even more toward the soft side and it will run thru the 1'to 2' footers great, only bottoming on the g-bumps or the down hill bucket type hits, now this is where you may need the bigger spring, for the anti bottoming big hits,as yammi has the ra control set up to add alot of rebound 70% and only 30% compression with the ra control knob,so the harder you turn it up,the worse the rebound will be,as it stacks up,than really hit you in the #*$&@. So now on my attak we just installed the 7.0 rate spring set on #1 clip and cam on #1 ra adjuster soft, but i wont beable to test until we get some more snow lol so what happened to winter??? :die ;)!

Great replies! Thanks. I just put it in and placed it on the 1 st clip, cam#4 to start with, once I get some more seat time and it "sets" I'll readjust. Good info on the RA adjuster, I'll try more towards soft.
Super, I did notice the difference between the spring diameter and actual length, glad to see someone with the same wieght have good results.

What is the best solution for the following?

Running 80 MPH and coming into a valley. You have 2 motions against you. The first is...you are racing down a slope and then are suddenly on the incline (the suspension wants to compress due to the change in direction and just taps the bottom) The second problem is the middle of the valley is sometimes very rough due to sleds landing there if they are coming from the other side.

When the suspension compresses AND I run into that bumpy valley, that is when I run into bottoming.

This is a common Quebec condition....I do not know if there are similar conditions elsewhere.

I think this is just a charectoristic of the Mono-Shock. I know what your talking about, but I think it's not as common where I ride.

It's funny, I read this and nodded my head the whole time. Then I got to the end and read your comment about this being common in Quebec and realized why I identified with what you were saying. You're right, it is very common. Particulary in farmer's fields and power lines.

I am putting my heavier spring in on friday. Has anyone who has posted above tried their set up over really big bumps?

Just wondering where I should put my C clip.
