2006 Apex Er. Posted a topic several weeks ago about a strange rattle, clunking noise. The noise was very strange and several people replied that it sounded like bearings in the chaincase. Well, I put 550 miles on the sled with the rattle and the sled ran great, just the noise. I took the chaincase apart thinking it was a bearing and discovered the shaft that holds the reverse gears on is loose in the case. The shaft is slotted and slides on a metal plate and goes into the back side of the case. This end of the shaft is very loose causing it to move up in down in the case which is what I believe is the clunking noise. Has anyone ever had this happen or heard of a similar issue? I inspected the shaft and plate and it looks ok but it is not tight in the slots on the plate. The parts are # 17 and #18 on the parts diagram. Thanks
