guys i know its been talk about before:

What is the best prduct to clean both clutches... ie dishwasher dish sopa(what kind)
how to remove primary..tried with puller not coming...

doing pre-season maintenace with 5300kms..

what all do y guys either check or replace with this milage....

great site im glad to own YAMMY :4STroke: 2008 apex

Ive used an air compressor to blow the dust out of them. I also use a scotch brite pad to clean the sheaves. I only use water and I remove the primary and secondary and physically clean by hand. Dont know if this is possible for all as I clean clutches at least twice a season so nothing really gets baked on.
Other guys will chime in with what theyre doing as far as dishwashing soap goes. But I find I can stay in the good books with my wife by keeping my parts as far away from there.

I use the dish washer with normal soap. Put grease in the hole then put the puller in. let the grease push the clutch off. Hydraulic pressure always works better.

How does grease push the clutch off, it's a morse taper. Clutch is held on by the bolt and friction stops it from turning on the shaft. Grease will only stop the puller from going into the crank.

Although I have never tried it, I have heard about the trick many times and it seems to work from what I can gather? ;)!

Use grease in the hole. turn puller with 1/2" ratchet till tight. 2 or 3 light blows to the end of puller with plastic dead blow hammer. Tighten some more. a couple of light blows on the end of puller. Most of the time this works great.

I pull my clutches off at the end of the season for cleaning with just a puller and clutch holder by hand. Never a need for grease or impact gun.

As far as cleaning, blow out with compressed air, remove the primary cover and spring, spray with a mild cleaner and scrub with a tooth brush or paint brush, rinse in hot water, blow dry. Wipe the sheaves with brake cleaner prior to installing the belt. You can also take a scotch brite pad to them also. Wash the belt in hot soapy water, rinse, air dry and your good to go.
