I was looking for a clutch kit for my 05 RX-1 and i mostly trail ride, but when it comes time to race my friends i want to be competitive. I will be racing 800 revs, 800 XC's, 600 reves, and one ZR 900.?

I would have to say that's pretty sound advice, those stock air boxes will rob you of some serious performance. Matt & Freddies ECP kit [ filter & clutch] will give you an added 18-20hp, with an awsume performance increase right from idle up to WOT. Not to mention "THE BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK",you can do a search on filter kits just be prepared to do some reading. ;)! :-o

Let's get a little serious about the hp increase claims. We try to be accurate on this site. :o|

Those were the numbers given to me directly from freddie in an Email I sent him asking about the HP numbers, I wouldn't just make up numbers or pass on info if I wasn't sure about it. ;)! Or I would have said "about" or "approximately" which I didn't. ;)!

About a 19 HP increase between 5,500-6,500 rpms and it falls back to a couple at 10,200. Torque showed the same improvements

What is the speed at 5500-6500 and how long are you there. Whenever anybody posts hp increases that I have seen it is accross the board with slight variations. To quote 19-20 hp increase is a little misleading in this instance. Some guy is going to go out and think he is getting 160 hp.

I'm not really sure, I never really paid attention. The reason I like it making power there is becuase of the torque factor when you initially get on the gas. Like I said in an earlier post I don't want to have to run over 10K R's to get my power which is what you need with a clutch kit over the ecp kit.

Mighty ride one at 10,700 and compare it to 10,200. The "engine" really screams at that RPM. In my opinion that RPM is too high for lond distance trail rideing.

Just my gut feeling!

Mighty I am not knocking the ECP kit it is just that you cannot advertise a 20 hp increase when it is for a yery limited rpm and drops off to minimal increase at peak where most people ride. I doubt Freddie would want anybody to buy his kit and expect a 20 hp increase which is a HUGE increase except for a turbo or BIG bucks.

Jim

Yes because you are running stock clutching and therefore are not getting the mentioned full benefit of the ECP in fact with some posts your top end will be down without the increase in top rpm.

Jim

Jim, I only have 800 miles on my sled. I'm sure as she loosens up more the revs will increase. I believe guys are clutching tight engines only to over rev once broken in further.
