Clutch Kits...

Never heard of it before but sounds good

clutching

Ive got the Fix powersports clutch in mine. At first I didn't think it made much difference, but after riding my cusins XTX I noticed a huge difference. His is alot like you have described it, you hit the throttle and it goes. I wasnt really able to feather his throttle like I can with mine. At least with mine I can burp the trottle a little and take off smoother with out spinning the track every time.

Love the kit!!!! I have the stage 2 and low engagement is awesome!!! Makes negotiating turns awesome, loading the machine on a trailer is much easier as well! But best of all this thing pulls so hard through the midrange!!! Truly awesome!!! I almost have mine completely dialed in..I am a little low on rpms throughout, so I might go with a lighter weight on the tip...I am seeing 8500-8600 rpms up to 85 mph (he recommended 8700-8850) ....from what Chris told me I should see about 9000-9200 max at 95+mph...I have only seen 100mph (on speedo) on my sled and feel i am underrevving a bit...conditions, belt wear, temperature and elevation all play a role on the rpms. I can tell you this: If i punch it going 40mph my skis raise about 12" and you get planted!!..much like on the Apex...Im real close to having her dialed in, just want to try it in different conditions and fine tune accordingly...
Love the extra midrange pop, especially when hitting the jumps on the trail!! ;)! ;)! ;)!

Vector06, what's the primary spring colour you're using? While I do have a clutch kit installed, I changed it out the primary spring for one with a lower preload but with the same total spring force. It engages at around 3500 rpms...much smoother in the twisties.

At the bottom of this webpage is a list of Yamaha clutch springs where you can cross reference them.

It can't hurt to try just swapping out the primary spring for $30 versus spending $150 for the kit.

Just get the kit . Everything in a nut shell works together so if you just get the spring you may have to adjust wieghts and everthing will cost more in the long run . If you dont understand how everthing work then it will cost and take a while

The cheapest way to fix the engagement is to drill out the aluminum weight rivit and replace it with a steel on the first hole flyweight.

According to the specs, you have a Y-S-Y with a preload of 35Kg and a total force of 118Kg. You could go with either a Y-P-Y (30/113) or a G-P-G (30/121) spring.

Can you explain the difference in the two {ypy and gpg}? Will changing to one of these springs effect my mid range/top end at all?
