does the 07 rtx with the 22-38 gearing have the pink secondery spring at 70 or 80 degrees wrap?
i have a 06 rtx and geared down to 22-38 from 24-38 and now its slipping on the clutch, it jumps to 10000 rpm then drops to 9500 and bak to 10000 and climbing.. this is under hard acceleration.. anybody?

I have a 07 RTX and my spring is black. Not sure how to tell how it is wound.

This is what they do when you get good traction. The stock clutching is very aggressive ...allmost too aggresive & if you hook up well it dumps the belt & takes some time to recover. 2 solutions...try a straight 45 helix or a 50/40 dalton style.
ok i will try to get anothet helix.. but cant i just wrap it at 80? or will it be to tight? olso have a silver spring how would this work at say, 90 degrees? compared to the stock pink.
well, tryed a straight 47 helix, and mabe it slipps a little less, but the clutches are hot to touch.. they where cool with stock gearing. anybody who have had good or bad experience with gearing to 07 rtx gearing..?

What is going on with the lower gearing is you are smoking the track alot more agresivly, then your clutch want's to keep shifting up and when your track finaly hook's up you have what is known as over shift and your driven clutch can not back shift quick enough and take's time to recover, That is why you have the drop in RPM. You either need more wind and or a Spring with more side force to help with belt slip, or helix as Turk said. That is a big gearing change, You will probably need the helix. If you under stand why this is, you can combat it better. The 07 RTX setup should get you there if some one know,s what it is. Hope this help,s. kviper
yes thanks! i understand clutching to some degree, but wonder how yamaha fixed this if they did...?

Silver spring with stock clutching will be worse as it is softer than the stock pink. Remove rivet mass from inner hole or adjust to a lower start angle helix.
