Just brought my Vector home.

Wow! I thought Yammi fixed the clutch rattle on the 3 cylinder. I guess not. It knocks and rattles at idle something aweful. Was there ever a cure for this or is it just the nature of the beast?

I believe it's just the nature of the beast. It can't be as bad as the '05s were. My '05 Venture TF sounded like a diesel before I got the update done. And starting it in a garage amplifies the sound... It only rattles before the clutch engages, so yes, it can be anoying, but that's the way they are. I got used to mine, and I think you will also, just give it some time. You're still too used to listening to the loud 2-stroke you had... ;)!

Oh, and by the way; :worth:

Yup, I will be sure to post some pics soon! I was just out in the garage adjusting the spring preload for my weight.

Started it up and let it idle for 10 minutes. My dealer recommended doing this 4 times before riding it.

Already took all of the panels off to get familiar with the access points.

At the dealer, I was really struck by the blue GT. Sorta wish I had gone the GT route just for the blue color, but at the end of the day black and red isn't too bad either (sort of a traditional Yamaha muscle-sled color).

I think I will paint the plastic vent screens red with some good plastic paint. Either Duplicolor or Kryon makes a paint specifically for plastic, can't remeber which but I believe the paint is called Fusion.

Not too fond of the white in the graphics since nothing else on the sled is white, I think straight red would have looked much better. But, a sticker is just a sticker and doesn't have anything to do with how the sled rides or performs. Just some cosmetic observations.

Wow, the clicker mono adjuster makes a HUGE difference in the rebound characteristics of this skid. I thought it was only a compression device, but I guess it must control both compression AND rebound!

It could also be that the carbs are out of sync, that will cause them to rattle too. Best to just run it like that for a while. Everything in there has to get to know each other so it can work better. ;)!

You didn't happen to get a picture of the LTX GT, because that's the one I'm getting (it'll be here in just a few days hopefully). We don't get any other LTX "over here", but it's just as well, since I wanted the clicker-shocks on the front. I can't wait to get it home.... LaLaLa

The LTX will be delivered with the same ski's as the RS Viking (Proffessional) here in Scandinavia, for a little better flotation in the deep snow...

I think the LTX will be a very good touring-machine! ;)!

I didn't take any pictures today. You will be pleased with the LTX GT. They had one on the showroom floor and it was the nicest (in terms of color and graphics) of all of the 2008 Yamahas.

Clutch rattle problem has been solved. With the side panels installed, the rattle is much less pronounced. I had the panels off when I started it and you can really hear the clutch without the panel on.

Just wait till you get some miles on it, and you will forget all about the rattle. It sure is nice having a machine which usually makes it past 150 miles without filling up!!!

Enjoy your new ride!!! :-o ;)!

You too! I think all of us LTX guys are in for a big treat this winter!

Could you tell me what it says on the little white sticker on the right side, just beneath the seat. I was just wondering how much it weighs all wet... 660lbs???

I also have a 06 Vector that made some noise when new. After you put some miles on her, she'll quiet down some.

Um, I may have deleted that sticker. I was pulling off almost every sticky last night.

Just curious, What did your dealer go over with you before you picked up your new sled?

My dealer went over the basics. Rear suspension adjustment, choke, heat-cycling the engine before riding, etc. Nothing too in depth.

Oh, and also the thumb / handlebar warmers, told me to adjust the chain and idle after the first 500 miles, keep an eye on the track tension.

Don't leave the key on or you will drain the battery.
