Is it true the Y E S extended warranty does not cover the clutches because they are considered a wear item.Dealer does not even want to submit. Dealer said intially would be $800 fix but then said that was if it were paid by yamaha under y e s . He then said my cost was $1100. Another dealer trying to rip me off or what?[/list]

My clutch parts were not covered under the YES warranty @ 3600 miles. Dealer tried but couldn't get it to go. $400 out of my pocket. #$%&*

I would be looking at aftermarket or used parts for $1100!!!

My secondary broke & replaced it with a roller secondary, didn't want it to happen again!
You can get a new comet primary for about $300.
I'm very sure their are many guys on here with clutches to sell that are still good also.

Hope this helps! :-o

Clutch is a wear item like a belt, skags, hyfax, brake pads and track......same thing with an automobile, wear items are not covered on any warranty. Now if it was defect then it would be covered I.E. crack in alum or tear in track w/o studs. What is wrong with it? A weak spring or worn bushing is all that usally goes wrong. If it is the rattle that is normal, turn up the idle!
;)! :yam: :4STroke: :rocks:

3 out of the 6 sliders in the primary twisted and wore the sliding sheave. The later models put small rubber washers behind these three and I believe that was the cause. Yamaha tried to Quiet the clutch down due to complaints. Be ware to all Vector / Venture owners if you blow belts (3) like I have you better check your lower radiator hose,it has no protection, mine is nearly cut threw. I am replacing this and installing a shield over this area like Yamaha should have done in the first place!

You can buy a new Polaris clutch on Ebay for $150 right now and it will fit the Yamaha 4 stroke sleds. Call Hartman, he is running one on his Apex. From what he told me you just have to shim the clutch bolt. I might put a P-85 on my Vector next year. They last forever. Tom Hartman says they're quieter and run cooler, too. I bought a brand new Yamaha secondary for $60 last Fall on Ebay. New take-off Yamaha primaries can sometimes be found for less than $200, too.
