Hello everyone... I'm looking for some advice on new clutching options for my modded mountain RX-1. First of all I have the ECP kit and under tunnel exhaust, but still stuck with the stock clutching. I will also be turning a 162 track this winter and am not to concerned about the high end.
I talked to Freddie/Supertuner and he gave me some great ideas, but also expensive ideas. So I'm looking for more feasible options before I spend too much!

Run a tuneable weight like heelclickers; heavy hitter or supertips. For $200 you can buy a set of these weights & fine tune em for your weight/elevation & conditions.

With a non turbo Rx1 you can run the 48 gram base weight Heavy hitters which you'll see for sale on here for a decent price. In fact just put a post in the classified looking to buy some and you'll get some responses. With the tunable weights you'll be able to get the clutching dead on. I had the identical setup to you, can't remember off the top of my head how my Heavy Hitters were set up (around 60 grams) but with the ECP and single pipe clutch it for 10,300 to 10,500 and the sled will just go and go.

Hey RX1M5,
If you have a chance to find your old set-ups would like to hear from you. I'm running the ECP with your exhaust and this year a 60HP shot of Holtzman. Just bought a set of Heavy Hitters form Turk.
And if I get any good setups I'll pass them on to you Coldwater.

If you want a perfect all around that will kick any stock 800 - 900
Bottom as well as top end. This worked for me 14.5 MM rollers viper weights loaded with long steel rivets short green pink green spring .
It works perfect with a team secondary 58-38-46 in-second cut 58-40-46 helix.
It did work with the stock secondary but I cant remember the specs.
This set up comes out of the hole like a scared rabbit and has 0 engine brake
Stock engine with a titanium pipe.
I weigh in at 220 lb and the sled at 540 with fluids and maybe a half a gallon of fuel
If you try it let me know what you think

Are these weights and springs added to the stock clutch? I am definately a novice when it comes to anything about clutching.... any detailed info is very welcome. Also where would I look to find these kits, clutches, etc.?

The spring viper clutch weights and rollers are Yamaha , lots of guys on here may just have them laying around. Your Yamaha dealer will for sure be able to get them for you.
The clutch I use is from team industry Hartman sells them al set up that way for you.

So I ended up putting the 162x16 under my sled, but it also dropped my RPM's in the process. I'm running around 9000 on a good day and just need to get it back to the high 10's.
Anyhow I talked to a guy over at Outlaw Motorsports and he set me up with the following: Primary Spring:G-W-G, Secondary Spring: White, Shockwave Helix, and Supertips.
If anyone could give me their 2 cents on where I should start off with the weights on my primary? I know alot of guys run the heavy-hitters... but even a ballpark idea would be welcome when setting up my supertips.
Also I have heard that with a ECP and under-tunnel exhaust 10800 to 11000 is gonna find my peak HP output. Does anyone else have any experience to confirm this?

Alittle high in RPM. I find the most pull right at 10500 -10700. 11200 is MAX so a little spin on ice is going throw you over.
I'm also running ECP & undertunnel exhaust, but stock track.
My setup is Pri O-P-O, 14.5mm, 8BU-10 13.1tip,13.9heel
Sec Silver, 54/42 helix at 80*
Also trying some Heavy Hitters but havent found the right combo yet.

i've been posting my ongoing trials with tuning, so if you want to go thru the pain staking process feel free. but in summary, dustin at outlaws has been very helpful as well as the guys on this site. i don't have an ECP but frosty does and he's running a 162x16 camo
05 rx1 weights grounds to 45g, no rivets
silver ac spring, primary
white, yamaha secondary at 90*
gearing 19/40, 18 is on its way
i just replaced my maverick track with a camo extreme which requires a bit more tweaking. but this setup should turn the maverick quite well. i'm generally running at 7-9000'. also my under tunnel exhaust seemed to lean out the sled and required going back to 135 main jets

Colwater, where did you end up with your clutching? I hope you found the answer.
I have found my heavy Hitter empty (exacpt for a 1/2" allen in the tip) with my shockwave works great. On the trail I'm three turns out from seated and turning 10,500. As I gain elevation I turn it in one turn to keep the RPMs. Once I start climbing I turn it all the way in and turn 10,500 climbing. This is at 6,000 feet roughly with an O/S/O primary with three shims and a silver secondary at 90 degrees.
Good luck
