Code 11

Now looks to be my starter. They have reset the error codes, looked at all wiring & things were good. They then looked at the starter closer & some gunk there so they cleaned it up. If they cycle thru starts, it behaves normally a number of times, but then eventually will not start & throws the code.

6 weeks post warranty & now a $500 part & labor. Good news is the dealer is refunding the $125 for the sensor they replaced since that was not the issue. Hopefully this turns out to be the answer. May be a while before I find out as we have had a big thaw rain event & it looks as if we will need another good storm before I can find out for sure.

So much for Yamaha's ads talking about more reliability & lower maintenance costs. More reliable than what? As you can see I am a little dissapointed in the product, a high end machine that doesn't seem capable of lasting for longer than 3 seasons ( 5700 miles).

Will give feedback if this does or does not turn out to be the answer.

I really think you should open up the lower section of the wiring harness and find that grounding block yourself, the dealer won't want to do it as they will look bad after all this. It's pretty easy now that we all know where to look , but our trouble is so close I think it could be the same. Even simpler, If you look over the top of the driven clutch in the wire harness, there will be a small flat 4 wire connector that is easily removed from the harness, ( you can see this one under the tape) take a test light and hook the clip to the POS side of the battery and use the point on the light to insert into the 4 wire test plug , if the light glows dull or not at all, you have a ground fault. Then go into the lower harness and find that block and continue testing.
We got the same rain storm here too just to add to all the fun .

They say they looked at the wiring. I took in a copy of your other post. When they cycled thru the old starter a few times it would eventually throw the code & then not start. They have put in the new one, test rode it for 20 miles & it all looks good. I am hoping the storm we are getting tonight & Friday helps me get out again (after losing most of our snow on Monday & Tuesday this week).

I TRULY believe they want it fixed. I was happy when they loaned me the owner's sled last weekend & they picked up mine. I was hoping they would do something to show they valued my business & help out some with the repairs. Picked up the sled today & I truly don't think I could ask my dealer for more- they took the purchase price off the replaced sensor right off my bill, they then discounted the starter & to TOP THAT ALL OFF for the 6.04 hours the mechanic worked on my machine, this time, they charged ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. The dealer in Dieppe (Atlantic Motoplex) showed me great customer service. My next purchase will be from them for sure now.

Time will tell if it is fixed (hopefully Saturday) but it is obvious they are doing (& willing to do) all they can to help out. They had not had a problem with a starter in an Apex before so they were suprised by it as well!!!

That is great customer servive for sure, I hope they have it fixed but I'm glad to see they are putting in a real effort to keep you happy , It's getting rare these days. You got your sled back just in time too maybe, 20 plus cm of snow today for our area. We need it too, it lawn mower season here after Tuesday's rain. Good Luck.

Put on 150 miles yesterday. We got 30 cm. Was nervous at the first stop so we stopped at the local gas station (the one I had it quit at last week) & no issue, Still nervous so by-passed 1st shelter & stopped at the clubhouse (where we could easily pick it up if needed)- no issues. 3 or 4 more stops & no problems- HOPEFULLY the issue is rectified.

Sucks worrying about stopping the sled- nervous if it will restart. In time I'll begin to TRUST it again.

Glad to hear she's working well for you, I have 2 good runs in since I fixed mine and I still get a little nrevous, mine is fixed for sure but it still gets to me when I hit the starter. Trails here are great too.

Ok, I'll finish my story here for everyones edification. As u recall, I had this code 11 a few weeks ago and after "guessing" what the problem was it appeared top be a loose battery cable. I went for my annual ride in the UP and it did it again! Fortunately, I was at the motel instead of on the trail. As luck would have it, the motel owners' son worked at the local Yammie dealer so off I went. They started right in on it as we went for coffee..............Came back an hour later and got the good news/bad news thing. They fixed it. To the tune of $823. The ECM was bad so I was told. At least it has worked fine since the swap but ask me how I feel about Yammies now. 2500 miles and I need an $800 part. I have the old ECM. Any ideas on if Yammie would be interested in it or they may cut me some slack?

I just had this Code 11 error happen to me today.
Everything was fine last season and this one so far, and today after about 10 mi. I accidently bumped the kill switch while rolling up to a road crossing.
Went to start back up after popping the kill button up, and error 11.

We popped the air intake off, looked at battery connections. All OK.
disconnected battery neg. lead and reconnected.

Finally looked up Error 11, and saw it was Cylinder identification sensor...
On a whim, rotated clutch backwards a turn or so....AND it FIRED right up!
This happened about 3 of 5 times I shut it off today....and turned clutch back to move motor position a bit...and it fixed it each time....

ideas?

07 Attak, 3700mi.

Same code today. Cranks but won't start. Fuel pump does work, everything is well connected, all my grounds are ok ( I just put a MPI s/c and redid everything). I only looked around for like 2 minuts for what may be the problem. I'll look further into it on the 26th.
