2015 RTX
Went to fire up machine yesterday and got a code 15 and 84. It was sitting outside and it snowed, but brought it into garage and tried the hairdrier on the tors switch, but am still in alarm.
Closed the back of the tunnel, moved the spacers to the outside, moved the limiter strap to the 4th hole, and lightened the preload on the front rear shock, and set the floats to 50 pounds yesterday. Made all the difference with handling, but cant ride with the damn tors on.
Not having thirty pounds of ice in the tunnel and pressure on the skies really helps, but cant get it to rev out or clear codes.
Also wont shift into reverse, assuming because of the tors?
And this is a 2008 RTX.

Tried slacking off the throttle cable, did not clear the 84 code. Next step was overide the tors. The 84 code dissapeared, but the 15 code was still on, now i am definitley stumped.
First time tearing it apart, whoever designed this thing at yamaha definitly put no thought into servicing it. a lot of pieces to rip off just to adjust a damn cable.

Are these a common failure? I am still on warranty, but cannot believe I have to take it in at 62 kilometers.
A lot of posts on here that end with "take it to your dealer" but I see a lot of 2007s on here, and the warranties are going to expire. I am not the best wrench around, but I know from experience that you are far better off wrenching on your own as no one cares about your machine more than you.

It still could be something as simple as and adjustment? if the cable is too tight it wont activate in the correct sequence and the code may be something that will still have to be cleared with the dealer.

Finally found time to look at this thing, set the idle, and checked throttle cable again. Then checked in diagnostic, and was reading from 0 to 70 on the gauge. If you push throttle in till valves are open, you can get to the 18-19 range which it should be. Anyway, the 2007 TPSs are adjustable, but the 2008 ones are not. Has anyone adjusted these on a 2008 and up, or is this a lost cause.

So I checked it with a voltmeter, and the TPS was shot. Took it to the dealer, and 11 days later I am up and running, they said it is the first one they ever had to change, lucky me.

Forgot to add, if you have a service manual, try your diagnostic mode. I could not fix the issue as it was a fauly electronic sensor, but at least I knew exactly what the issue was, if I was off warranty I could at least have some confidence in what parts I am buying.
