I'm a relatively new 4 stroke Venture MP(2009 model) owner so please bear with me if i profess my ignorance about these machines. Has anyone out there got any ideas about the problem I am about to elaborate on? I got my machine running last weekend and got distracted for seven or eight minutes while it was warming up...it was around -15º C at the time so not overly warm out. From inside my mudroom I heard the machine shut off and wondered why until I looked in the manual and found out that this would happen if it was idling for more than 3 minutes or got too hot. So I waited a few minutes and attempted to start it again and...nothing; no fuel pump kicking in or starter motor turning over. On the display the yellow warning light flashes along with the engine outline as well as code 81 indicating a hand warmer problem. I've checked the starter relay, battery, ignition switch and fuses with no smoking gun yet. The fuel pump relay was replaced last spring with an upgraded superconductor relay...I haven't checked it yet and am making an assumption that it is okay but I will check it next. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.

You checked the fuses? I wonder if the Venture has same groundung block issue as some Phazers?

Fuses checked out OK. I think the Venture did have same issues with grounding as some Phazers...am waiting to find out from friend I bought machine from if it ever had an upgrade for that issue. Thanks for the tips.

Have you tried jumping it at the starter solenoid?

Yes, I've done that check and starter works when the solenoid is jumped.Probably the problem is too simple for my simple brain to comprehend. I'm finding it difficult to isolate all the circuits while my machine is parked in the snow at 20 below but will try to check as many as I can for continuity...to be continued

well my machine would crank over but not fire at -30F a few times think it was water that froze in the relays or some such as as soon as I warmed the oil tank side up it fired right up

I have a very similar problem.. No fuel pump, no starter.. I had code 81 in the history, but not current. The only time i get a code is when i hold the key in the start position, then a code 43 will come up.
I traced power to the fuel pump, i get 12v right at the connector to the fuel pump (when the relay is energized) , still nothing though. This leads me to beleive i have a bad fuel pump. But my question would be why will the starter not go either ? Coincidence that 2 things are wrong? Mine machine is an 08 Venture MP... my other machine, (07 phazer) had relay issues, but even if the fuel pump did go the starter would always go fine (just wouldnt start). Has there been something added in 08's to prevent issues that if the fuel pump didnt go, it wont allow the starter to function?
Keep us uptodate on the issue.
Thanks
