I would agree with BlueByYou2000, the engine will hit the rev limiter way faster than the tach needle can keep up. So you are definetively bouncing off the rev limiter. Add more weight. You also said going down in boost it got better but still would sputter, well again you're bouncing off the rev limiter, just not as bad as when you were running it at 11 lbs. Add more weight to the primary clutch.
What is your current clutch setup, please give us info on Clutch arms, how much weight added to them and where, what primary spring, what helix, what secondary spring, what degree of twist, what gearing, trail condition where you are testing your sled. With this info added you will get the help you need on dealing in your clutching for your added power
It could be hitting the rev limiter. I have hammertime weights 50-20's. On 8lbs I was hitting the rev limiter out of the hole up to 50 mph. but would go down to 10200 rpm on the top end. I added 2g of weight and cranked up the boost from 8lbs to 11 lbs. I also loosened up my secondary from 23lbs to 20 lbs. I then went out and had the above stated problems. I assumed my problem was increase in boost and not having race gas because the boost was 11 or 12 lbs.
I want to run at 10 lbs. on trail. I never really looked at my tach. Sounds stupid but reason I never was because the sun was really bright the day I was out and all my guages were very hard to read. I was also doubling the girl friend and sitting extremely close to gauges and they wre hard to see.
Whats got me wondering is I run 14 lbs while grass dragging in Oct. with the same weight and clutching with race gas and my cluthching was good. I ran a 21/ 38 gear set up for grass drags. I am running 25/38 now with 4.3 gs in middle hole and 4.3 gs in the hammer. Have the rccommended springs.
Once I get my new battery I will go out and test. Gonna watch boost and tach.
You'll get there with some more weight
