This is my first Yamaha, so I'm not sure if I've read the code correctly.

My sled 3 or 4 times flashed the yellow warning LED and showed the "Check Engine" Symbol on my display.

Then I saw in flashed the number 84, which I'm assuming must be the error code.

If so I did a search on here and found an Apex code documents and code 84 is for the T.O.R.S. system.

So it ended up not seem to cause any problems, as I rode a little while and then it went away. I never notice the system not working, but I will take it in to my local dealer for a check over.

84 is tors. probably got some ice or snow in the switch. best to thaw or at least tap on the housing and make sure everything is free and working properly. tors keeps you from having a throttle stick. ski

Few questions:

1) Where is this switch located at?

2) I still had it happen to me when I got home in fairly warm weather, but having ice/snow build up could still have been there.

the mechanisim is on your throttle lever. if you twitch the throttle without engaging the slides you can see the lever pivots in the housing on the bars before it engages the slides. without that pivot the tors acts up. this happens if you push the throttle funny with your palm or back of thumb. it also does this when snow or ice or an obstacle binds the throttle cable. hence protecting you from stuck wide open throttle. ski

I have a Powermadd 6" Pivot riser, no throttle extensions.

I've had those on before I even rode the first time, my fist two rides I had no problems.

But, I have just recently put on a left hand throttle that attaches to the stock throttle control. But it can't be the problem because it has a quick disconnect and I had it off while loading/unloading the sled and for most of the day.

I'll have to check other stuff in that area.

Logic says that's probably the cause of it....the left hand throttle. Check how the connection operates on the throttle flare, you may have your answer right there....

I knew there was more to the original post, I have to deal with these questions all of the time. Just check over all of the connections / cables.

I was just trying to verify I was reading the error code correctly.

Before I assumed anything. :)

Forgot to update this post.

I loosened up the Left Handed throttle to make sure I had 1/4" free play in the stock throttle level. Took it out this weekend. No issues. Works like a charm.

what are you using for your left hand throttle. what company

Snobunje. It works awesome. Love the quick disconnect, better than a locking pin, imho.

I like the Snobunje. I have one on my Viper. Very well designed, high quality, can mount over the grip without shorting it out, simple install. I just have to remember which one is the throttle and which one is the brake! OOOOOOPS!!!

Guess that depends on how you mount it. I did mine completely underneath the grip so its not near my brake level. Its very handy to also help get the sled unstuck.
