Here's the situation. My wife's Vector is very cold blooded. You cannot give it any throttle at all when it is cold or it stalls. I let it warm up until the light goes out, but still it stalls. Eventually you can get through this once the sled is completely warm. However, it will ALWAYS hesitate when you get on the throttle from an idle.
What could be the possible causes of this? My thoughts are:
1) Dirty Pilot Jets?
2) Idle too low?
It idles around 1200 rpm or so.
As far as the pilots are concerned, what is involved in cleaning them? Do I need to remove the carbs or can they be cleaned in place? If anyone could provide me some details or reference to a tech post on this I would appreciate it greatly.

Does it have new gas in it? I had a this happen after summer storage, and I drained the gas put in sea foam and it soulved it. in my case ,could have been the gas or the sea foam may have cleaned the jets, For the price I would try the sea foam.

Well, it did it all last year as well, so I can't really say whether it's old gas causing it or not. The Sea Foam idea is a good one though, I will try that. Where do you buy it?

Mine has done that from day 1. It has to run pretty long after the light goes out before it will take any throttle.
I will bet that RSVectorFreak 's sled does not have this glitch.

Dirty Pilot Jet!!!!!
I had the exact same problem. I pulled out those jets. Two were a little cloged and one was completely blocked. Sprayed some carb cleaner in the jets then blew them out with some air.
When I started it up it ran much better, it still hesitates a little but it is much much better.

I bought a service manual off ebay for $6 bucks. It was a pdf file. I bought it at 5 pm the guy sent it to me a 6:30.
Any way. You need to be able to turn the carbs upside down to remove the jet. I removed all the connnections to the carbs, except the throttle and choke cabel, as well as the coolant heater lines (I didn't want to spill any coolant). I removed the fuel lines, the tps sensor, carburator heater coupler (electrical connector by oil tank), and the air box.
When you get the carbs turned over you'll need to remove the float chamer cover. Inside the chamber the pilot jet is the smaller jet with the flat head pattern, it is diagionally next to the main jet. Unscrew the jet look through it into a light to see how blocked it is, the passage is very small. Spray some carb cleaner directly into it a few times then blow the jet out with some air. Do that until it's clean out and reinstall. When you start the sled your gonna have to turn it over with full choke for a long time until the fuel refils the carbs.
I've only cleaned carbs twice before - and it was this week, so I might have left some things out. Hope this helps some. I don't have the means to post pictures right now.[/img]

I just poured a half a can of Sea Foam into a full tank of gas. I then ran the sled for 10 minutes or so. We'll see what that does for it. Pilot jets were my first thought though, it just seems that way because the sputter is at the time when you should be transferring from the Pilots to the Mains. Sea Foam claims it will clean it right out... We'll see.

Well, I checked again today, and my wife's is just at 1000, not 1200 like I thought. Maybe I need to bring that up a bit as well. Can someone walk me through that? I don't have a service manual.

Take it up to 1300-1400 rpm just follow the cable down and you will see the set screw

The root problem is that your carbs are clogged. Mine idled at 1100, after the cleaning it's at 1400. Simply beause you forced it to idle at 1400 won't mean it fixed anything.
