Took my 07 phazer GT to the dealer to get all the recall work done that the previous owner didn't. I asked about a cold start recall and they didn't know what I was talking about. They did some wire harness recall that they said a hard cold start was a symptom. Well that did nothing. Even with 60 degree weather it still cranks forever before it starts. What exactly is the cold start recall?

Thanks, I searched and did not find that. Sometimes I suck at computers...

i bought mine with the update done but noticed the same. cranks awhile when even warm out. i changed plugs, didn't need too, ended up being low on fuel & it was reformulated crap i think. filled up the tank with new stuff & it got better but still seemed to have longer-than-i-like starts.
so i touched the throttle a little bit when cranking,(shouldn't need too), fired up instantly. i resort to this method if it's being stubborn so i don't kill my battery.
all my symptoms were just the initial fire up. after riding, it was fine.

After having mine done, it did reduce the starting time in half (3 revs instead of 6). I did hear some time ago that it has been extended beyond Dec.31, 2009. Check with your dealer.

xt_gt: Are you sure it was the actual cold weather start update that was done and not just the wiring replacement? Check the bulletin and check your ECM serial.

A different dealer (then i bought it from)did my cold start update when i had it in for an oil change. That and what must've been a reverse issue? Anyway, it starts a LOT faster now!

good point mooseman. i'll check that & the print out of the services that were done, the dealer gave me.

There was another recall/service bulletin for a faulty ground wire on Phazers specifically which can result in a no start condition. Unless the customer complains specifically about cold weather starting problems, dealers either don't know about it or don't mention it. I sorta fudged the truth to my dealer, saying that I experienced cold weather start problems even though I only had the sled 1 month in October :tg: .

I read and researched about my sled a lot here and I did find that it took too long to start in "normal" temps. I was bringing it in for other recalls and had it done at the same time as a preventive measure.

bulletin is S07-011. what am i looking for on the ecm, just a #?
heard about the ground wire too. dealer said it was the yellow connector, by the oil tank, which has the headlight & something else together. i saw the new connector & it makes the headlight 1 ground & the other wires are sent to another ground because the headlight draws too much amps i guess. gets too hot & possibly melts the wires to cause a fire.

Basically, look for a mark that ends in "-10". That is the mark of the new ECM.

I went to the dealer today and gave them my VIN. They printed me out a sheet with all of the recalls. None had been done. i only remember ball joints and steering linkage. I dropped the sled of later that afternoon. All recalls are still honored, no cost.

Did you go to filers? I just had mine there and they knew nothing about the cold start bulletin.

Yeah filers.

Cold start isn't a recall so I don't think those come up when they run a VIN
and... it's filer's

totally forgot about Stones, I haven't had a Yamaha in 10 years.
