For the first time this winter my RX wouldn't start when it is cold. This has happened a couple of times this winter. The first time it was -35C and this weekend it was -25C and on top of that, the sled was parked on the lake in front of the camp with strong north winds.

Anyway, I heated up a pot of water and poured it on the cylinder heads. The sled then fired up right away. I have heard of guys not being able to start their sleds in the morning and killing their batteries.

This quick start up fix works for me and not sure if someone has posted this already in the past, but if it happens that your sled won't start in the morning, try the hot water trick.

I had this problem with my 2003 RX-1 (-20F). I have not tried the hot water trick...but was told it might be the starter "relay" solinoid.
After I held the key over to start position for 10 sec... I started to hear the engin grown. Waited a few more seconds, then she started to crank, and eventually fired up.
Did your crank at all before the hot water?

A dealer in the U.P. of Michigan showed me the hot water trick. Scared the crap outta' me when he came walking up with a pan full of hot water. TADA! It worked!!

The -35C morning the engine cranked very slowly. This weekend, the -25C morning and the sled being out in the wind, it cranked a little slower than a regular start. So rather than drain the battery, I got some hot water from the sauna which was still hot from the night before. When I was pouring it on the heads, I could hear pinging and panging. Turned the key and it fired up right away.

I am sure if you have access to hot water this would work on all four strokes on a cold morning.
