one of the major reasons i sold my 08 xp 800r was because it was so hard on belts and all i heard was " you wont blow belts on a yammi" well i have 900 miles on my 09 rtx the first belt started coming apart at 200 miles and i cut the cords off that were hanging out twice and it gernaded at 500 miles now belt number two starts at 200 miles and i changed it today after cutting cords again a few times but didnt want it to blow put about 80 miles on belt number 3 and it aint lookin so good yes i checked allingnment and adjusted all checks i have stock everything but the track i put on about 150 miles ago id like to know how everyone is getting like 1500 miles on a belt my cords heep coming out on the inside or motor side of the belt wtf yes i do ride the crap out of this thing but the belt should last a little longer that that dont you think and yes i broke the belt in for about 20 miles each time

I have never "blown" or wore out a 8DN, I have them on all our sleds....

2000 Yamaha Mountain Max
2003 Yamaha RX-1 MTN
2007 Yamaha RS Vector MTN
2008 Yamaha FX Nytro MTX w/MCX

Between the 4 sleds, over 10,000 kms.....

I also ride 90% trails and 10% lakes. When I am on the lake I drag race. 1st day I got her home,I had the parking brake on and I smoked it. Even with that and 970 miles and the belt still look fine

not one...but I run heelclicker weights and I think it makes it easier on the belt

well i am using 8dn belts lots of powder riding to the handlebar and im not seeing anywhere near that i checked the allignment and it was at 12.2mm -14mm specs are 13.5-16.5 with 1-2 mm of float i have it set at 13.5mm pushed all the way in and 16.6 pulled all the way out that has got to be good ??? i just dont know

Do you break your belts in??

^^^^^^^^
lllllllllllllllllllllll
That is the true question.

My first belt I got less than 500 miles out of but I did not break it in. The belt I have on now I have just over 500 and it looks new and I broke it in. 20 easy miles on the trail then to the bars in the mountains.

my first post states that yes i did indeed break the belt in on the trail for at least 20 very easy miles before i did any sort of hard riding seeing that it is the inside of the belt everytime should i mabey move the secondary out alittle more????idunno
