Coming over from the Yellow and Black

Just did the deed on a RTX ER. Coming over from Green myself.

Coming off a 2000 AC Powder Special 700. All my riding buddies ride Poo IQ and the old cat could keep up or get ahead when the trails were not whooped out and had a bit of fresh powder on them. The way out was always a good ride for me, the way back sucked. Sore and abused. At 6'4", standing on it was a PITA and it consistently consumed gas at a 3:2 ratio compared to the IQ 600s.

I'm looking forward to next winter now but just hoping I can get the same number of miles out of the tank as them. It'll be my first 121" skid too which almost ended it for me but I didn't want to wait another year and I didn't want a two stroke. None of the other manufacturers 4 strokes even remotely appealed.

I picked the blue but I'm still not sold on that. Got till Saturday to change my mind but the blue will look nice next to the blue 07 Grizzly 700 so I may stick with that.

At any rate, the Cat is out of the garage. It was a bad purchase for me and I had some issues with it. I fixed them all before I got rid of it but I wasn't confident in keeping it. With what I paid for it vs what I got for it, it turned into a $2500 season for me but it was my first sled season in almost 15 years. If nothing else it showed me what type of sled I really wanted and got the two stroke need out of my system once and for all.

Where did you ending up deciding toorder from?

I still haven't decided who to purchase from. The best deal I have found in VT so far is $9200 without the accessories and I was hoping to find a better deal since other members of this site have purchased the FX Nytro for under $9000. I guess I better have my mind made up by the show in Burlington on Friday night.

The last good snow of the year, was ready to go out for what I thought would be the last ride of the year. Literally was some of the best snow we'd had in about 10 years! Just then my wife drove in and suggested I needed to help some of the neighbors snow blow their driveways (though I agreed they needed help, I wasn't real enthused about it). Long story short, I didn't have time to get out on my ride, so decided to go to the snocross races instead. Just so happened I also got to test ride the Nytro there. Me likey!

Snow checked my FX Nytro today! It's my wife's fault!! I'm a first time 4-stroker coming over from the red camp with a ton of trouble free miles on 3 different IQ chassis - am really excited about what the Nytro has to offer, though. My right thumb will be twitching all summer!

rik what sled did you ride before ?Have you tried the fx nytro ?

I had an 04 500ss rev. Loved the sled but wanted to give a four stroke a try and I love my Nytro (well except for the hard seat)! These four stroke engines pull very hard and are amazing on gas. Plus you have piece of mind knowing your motor is reliable. On the trails you don't notice the weight difference.

That is what I am aiming for a reliable sled. Winter is to short to miss two weeks waiting for parts that are backordered.

I have attended a couple of the Yamaha Demo Rides myself. For general all around trail riding, I perfered the base Nytro. Listening to other riders comments, most prefered the RTX which I felt was too stiff for most riding. Its hard to say which is better, at a demo you have 100lb riders and 300lb riders and the sleds are set up for a happy medium. With some dialing in for your specific weight and riding style you could be happy on either one. Unless your going to race or bang ditchs 100% of the time you'll be fine on the base model and you saved about $600.

I've read the reviews from all testriders (maximumsled) and i must say that it doesn't look that good for Polaris and Arctic Cat. The Nytro looks better and better though.

Just wanted to make a comment on 08NirtoRTX's comment about the horsepower/weight difference from your old sled to the Nytro. After coming off of Cat and Doo myself, the biggest thing you will notice it TORQUE!!! Tehy may be close on rated horsepower, but the 4 stroke definately will have more torque, and if you ask anybody in the racing world, "Torque turns tires" (or tracks! LOL)
My Apex pulls like a freight train comapred to any of my old sleds, including my Mach Z 800, and I loved that sled.
I'm sure you'll love it, and I look forward to hearing you tell us next season that you wish you'd have done it long ago! LOL LOL LOL

I to am on my way over from the other side, I just ordered my Nytro yesterday, My mind was made up after the chain on my rev came threw the case and I was on my 5th belt of the season, and skidoo didnt want to do anything for me. The only thing that bothers me is the small gas tank?
