Concerned about 05 Quality!

Ok, I went out tonight to pull the little rubber bumpers off and see if that was the problem and it wasn't. Then I noticed one spot in the underside foam had an impression in it because something hitting it. The brake line is hitting the hood. Can someone look at there sled and let me know if the brake line runs over or under the cooling hose????
Thanks

I just got back from picking up my candy apple 05 RX-1 ER.

There isn't a hint of a scratch on the entire sled, but I too noticed a very minor imperfection in the way the hood sits.

The hood is about 1/16-1/8" too far to the right around the center/console region.

In my case it's minor enough I only noticed because I was looking. A light push to the left and it centers, but open and close the hood again and it's slightly off to the right again.

Good enough for me! (for now - might see if there's a hing adjustment later).

Unfortunately I had to go back to work (otherwise I'd be sitting in the garage drooling over the new toy - actually probably polishing it up...).

If not one else has posted, I'll try to have a look when I get home (it will be late though).

rhoag: Why don't you post a few pictures (high detail level). I'm sure that its too difficult to handle this kind of issue by text descriptions only. I think just about everybody has some kind of hose pushing slightly into the foam, the foam is compliant enough that it usually doesn't matter.

Almost: The rubber bumpers hold the hood up a little and allow the hood to rotate. That is nothing specific to yours. The rubber bumpers are there because on the 03's (without the rubber bumpers), there are two bolt heads that would dig into the underside of the hood.

My hood has one small chip and doesn't close tight on the right side. I may have put the chip in the hood because it's near the key and I had to drill out the rivets in the grip and then put a new grip on. I would appreciate you looking at that brake line for me.
Thanks

Convert,
There is only one pic of the engine compartment and it does appear that the brake line goes under the coolant hose. That has got to be another factory thing not the dealer??? I am getting really concerned that this baby was made just before knock off for a long weekend or something. I guess I will move that brake line tomorrow or should I disconnect the cooling hose??? Do I have to bleed the brakes if I disconnect the brake line? What would be easier?

Check your airbox, it may not be on all the way. If installed wrong it hits the hood not allowing it to close.

Your dealer has to service the batt. and needs to remove the airbox. You may ask your dealer about his quality.

I looked at the airbox and it looks like it's on right, but I will take a closer look. It closes good on the left side but not the right side and the top of the airbox looked the same on both sides.

Hood did the same thing on my 03 when I was working on it I cant remember what it was that was popping that same side up but it looked like the hood didnt fit right. It was only somethng I didnt push all of the way in. Double check to make sure something isnt just sitting right I am sure you will find it to be something silly.

I don't know? I took the brake line off and that didn't fix it. I took the airbox cover off and that did nothing. I guess I will have to load it up and take it back to the dealer. I don't think there's any adjustment in the hinge. The belly pan appears to be the same height on both sides. Maybe I will go out and loosen the hinge bolts and see if I can get it even.

I'd definitely let the dealer fix it......actually, make him fix it. You start taking apart too much stuff, and they'll probably blame you for it, or absolve themselves of responsibility for it.

I finally had a chance to have a better look at mine. There isn't a problem.

On my sled, depending on which side of the hood I drop first, the offset shifts from side to side. If I close it by holding on to the center of the windshield it closes perfectly centered and level.

The fit and finish really is top notch. I crawled all over the sled and I can't even find a hint of rounding on screw or bolt heads. The dealer must have better tools than me...

I also checked the brake line, it sits above the coolant line.

I agree with wolfie, take it back to the dealer.

Good luck with it, hopefully it's something minor.

I would have taken it back to the dealer a long time ago..

The longer you wait the harder it will be to get them to not claim you screwed it up!!

My dealer is pretty good about things, heck they should be with as much stuff as I buy. Maybe i'm just being to picky the groove and the lip are makeing contact so the hood isnt going to be moving around. If I pull the hood toward the side that doesn't fit right it fits better, but not perfect. I just hate to loadit up and take it back to them. But I will this weekend.
Thanks for all the help guys.
