Vectors are great sleds, if you can afford it, the newer ergos are much more comfortable and the mono has gone thru some revisions, however, the DB style vectors are great. We had an 05 put on an apex seat and 2 inch riser fcr my wife and it was like the 06/07 nytros, better, but not as comfortable as the DBII.
The 120 engine is awesome. Runs well, sips fuel, and well its just a great package. Should be able to find some leftovers around, and prices should be good with the 10's getting efi.
I also would recomend the 136 in either DB or DBII trim. Just avoid the 05 Rage 136, it was in the NO-Action suspension still, i think all the 06 and up were monos.

Snowaddict said:Have been wanting to upgrade for my sig. other. I think a Vector seems like a good sled for her. I'm am thinking more and more it should be with rider forward seating (which I believe only started with the '08 model Vector.) Is this a major difference than '05-07? and also how much different is the 2010 model? I really was hoping to find a decent used Vector. For one I don't have the $ for brand new and am not even sure if the cost would be justifiable compared to a newer used one? Any and all input would be appreciated.
I have an 05 classice 'blue' vec and love it. Hope your sig. other can handle the ponies under the hood. Major difference between the 05-08 would be as everyone is pointing out, rider forward ergos and rear suspensions. Engine is the same so its hard to go wrong. The prices are dropping on both new and used machines so the longer you wait, the better the deal. Obviously, newer is always better, unless there has been major changes in a newer model which might equal bugs...

I am in exactly the same boat as Snowaddict. I am thinking about one of these for my wife as an upgrade from her 04 Polaris 800 Classic with the electric M-10. Main reason being that I am planning a trip to the Gaspe Penninsula next year. I have a few questions that I need answers to. Number 1) I dont want to take her carburated 2 stroke because of the crazy elevation changes I will see up there. I think it will wreak havoc on the performance. Are all the Vectors from '08 on up fuel injected, or are the carburated 4 strokes more immune to elevation change?
I have an '07 Apex and I love the chassis and I have heard that it is even better with the three cylinder. I like the idea of buying another DBII because I have become familiar with the adjustments and dont like the idea of putting her on another chassis that I am unfamiliar with and trying to learn how to dial it in when she only rides it 3 times a year. That wont give me enough reps.
And 2) Do the handwarmers suck on these the way they did on mine? I know the 2010s feature "High output handwarmers", but how about the '08s and '09s? Cold hands will kill our trip up there. I have fixed mine with the help of the great folks here at TY, and they are awesome now, but I was hoping I wouldn't have to go through that BS again

I've had my wife on both an 05 Vec and now an 08 LTX GT. She liked the 05 with Simmons and an airwave out the back, but loves the LTX just like it is. She is a light rider who rides groomed trails only. Loves the forward seating. The REV's were too far forward for her, but she feels the LTX is perfect. I studded the sled down the middle and put duallies and shims on the stock ski's.
This sled rides like a dream, quiet, good fuel economy and I get no complaints over the communicator other than "I have to pee"
It doesn't get any better than that gentlemen!! Buy her an 08 LTX GT or newer and you'll never look back.

I don't think the ponies will be a problem. She rides an '01 SRX 700 right now and has driven an RX-1 a few times.

The smoothness of the Vector makes it very easy to get used to. My wife loves her 99 PZ500 and refuses to upgrade, but when she finally rode my Vector she liked it alot. She didn't understand the work and money I put into it for the changes but then was even more impressed after the seat and bar upgrade. She thinks it is a very enjoyable sled and more comfortable now.

I love my 05 Vector 121, Put on a Boss seat that 2" taller and a 2" riser, changed the machine to some thing really awesome. GYTR's up front and Ohlins in the back. It will take anything I can throw at it. I am closer to 50 than to 40, so sit down riding is what I grew up on. Still adjusting to the 09 Nyto MTX (which I do like) Gave the Vector to my wife.

i have over 3000 miles on my 09 ltx and i love it,very nice sled,my wife on the other hand cant get used to it,she drives an 07 phazer gt and we swap once in a while, but everytime she comes off the vec,she cant wait to get back on the phazer, she finds it too heavy, the phazer is a really nice sled for a lady, very comfortable and much easier to drive than the heavier sleds, even myself see a big difference in how easy it is to drive and unless you ride wide and long stretches, the power of the phazer is right there in the tighter trails, but it all comes down to what she wants, the vector is a great sled
The 06 vector was the first vec to have the mono shock. all vectors up to and including the 09 are carb, NOT EFI. The Venture GT was the only 120 that was fuel injected. 2010 is the first FI Vector. And double check on that as I dont recall if both the basic and the GT are injected or just the GT. I had the 05 and now have the 08 DBII 136 incher. I will never go back, I have not tried a 121 mono, but the 136 is major MAJOR improvment over the 05. Just my 2 cents
