I have an 03 RX1 that I love to drive... the power, fit and finish, and reliability... the only problem that I have is the seating position, naturally snce I came from a REV..... considering a minor upgrade to an 05 Vector.... whaddaya think? I guess I'm looking to see what the pros and cons are with regards to power, seating position, suspension, etc... please let me know some opinions.... thanks, AD

As far as I've ever been able to tell, the only difference between the '05 Vector and RX-1, is the engine. Also, the '05 doesn't have mono-shock rear suspension yet (I think).

rx vs. rs

NYer is right. The engine is the difference. Seating is the same. The suspension on the '05 Vector didn't get the mono shock upgrade as did the '05 RX 1. If I was to upgrade to a Vector again (used to have an '05 RX 1 and last season got a Vector for my girlfriend) I would only get '08 or newer due to suspension and seating. That said my buddy and his wife just got '05 Vectors (after riding an SX and Indy 500) and they are happy with their choice.

get a 06 apex or newer seat andput it on the rx 1

X2 or jump to a 07 Vector so you can get a decent Mono skid.

And the 05 vector has the newer front end geometry versus the Rx-1. It also has the Pro-Active skid versus the Proaction on the RX-1 and is better than the mono for rougher trails especially with a different rear shock.

I have an 05 vector and think it is a great upgrade. I agree 100% with vectorfreek about the suspension. Mine rides great and after a long day you are not beat up.

There is not enough of a difference between the two if you are going for a different riding position. The seat is slightly higher than the RX1 due to a little more foam, but it is a direct bolt on to your RX1 if that's what you are after. Not a big difference though. The ProActive skid in the '05 Vector is way better than the '03 ProAction in my opinion, but still is not going to give you the ride you are after if you are really liking the Rev platform. I agree that if you want a stock Vector that seats more like a Rev, you need a newer one with the DBII chassis. If I were starting from scratch, this would be my sled of choice as a starting platform.

Personally, I love my '05 Vector. I am one of the few that really likes the skid. It holds up in the rough and I can tune it to perform like I want. I don't think I'd be happy with a Mono for my riding style. I bought my sled in late '04 and then the RS style Nytro came out in '06 and I liked them. They are too similar to the Vector so instead of changing sleds I just made my '05 Vector into an '07 Nytro. Fairly straight forward, and the seating position is much better.

If you like this '05 you are looking at, a great upgrade for the first gen Vector is the Nytro/Apex seat and move the bar up and forward. I used Nytro stuff but it is a lot cheaper to just use pivoting risers. (Easy to do on your RX1 too) Good thing about the '05 is that it has hand warmers that work. Good luck with your choice.
