What would it take to convert a RX engine to Apex style EFI.

I would appreciate any thought or suggestions from anyone who possibly has done this or understands the difference between the electrical requirements between the 2 engines.

I am not worried about the throttle body mounts and the injectors. I can machine my own manifold for that.

I am interested in a easy transition by installing the harness from a Apex for the signal pickup ability for the efi system.

I want to take a Apex engine wire harness and replace the RX electricals and plug into my own injector and throttle body setup.

If this can be done, what other components are needed for the RX engine? Are the flywheel and timing marks different.

If I use a power commander or something like that, could that compensate the RX timing?

Any thoughts anyone?

Thanks

I was going to build my own at one time and have everything from a r1 bike, throttle bodies, injectors, wire harness with cdi. I would sell them for a song or trade for whatever

How in depth did you check to see if this would work.

I would be glad to call you and talk about it if you like or you can call me.

Thanks

I had looked over both wire harness diagrams and found only a few differences in sensors. the efi had a few extra sensors. If posible, I was going to use the bike harness only and bypass the saftey stuff like kickstand and neutral type switches and if needed, use a programer with it to straighten out the differences in timing and air flow with different intake and exhaust compared to the R1.
The only thing that I could see that wouldnt work is the heated grips through the switches that exist on the sled already which could be used with an outside switch if needed.

This was all before the apex came out and you might look into just using that harness with the R1 injection system. Thats really all I have for info.
