It's not mentioned if it was bought 2nd hand or new but sounds to me like it was used.. I'd flog it. My XTX loves the pow and off trail it's a totally different ride and for the better. After 2200 kms I've probably spent 8 hours total of wrenching that's on hyfax and spacer in the gear case (with beers incl) and all my little mods in my signature.NFLD-Nytro said:LOL, I should load up my GPS tracks. If there's anything my nytro does good it's play off-trail.Ruckus said:My brother is a certified BRP mechanic. The engines last approximately 140 to 160 hours. Luckily they are easy to remove and cheap to rebuild (compared to a 4 stroke). I'd almost rather do an engine every 2nd season than be constantly wrenching on a machine (speaking from my own experience here). I spend 8-10 hours a week tightening/straightening/mending/welding/greasing/checking my Phazer. Its a blast to ride but what a PITA. I actually rode 2 back to back days without repairing it, although I did blow a rear shock and bent the front subframe slightly (I have 8 hours set aside today for repairs, haha). Fit and finish is awesome though and the engine should last awhile. I will probably keep the Phazer for 1 more season (because I have a bambino on the way) but after that its Cat or Doo all the way, unless Yamaha pulls something major out of its hat. These machines just don't have what it takes for off-trail abuse unless you are willing to spend some serious coin and time (and gym time) to make them what they should be. On groomed trail (which is probably 80% of the market) they can't be beat but I'll say it again and again, if you are into out of bounds riding Yamahas are just too heavy and underpowered (not to mention the odd handling characteristics) to be competitive with 2 strokes. I love my Yamaha and would love to stay with this brand but for the riding that I do, there is no machine in the lineup that can deliver.
Same here. 10,000kms, and I come home from a hard ride, turn off the key, and don't look at it until I'm putting gas in it before the next ride. The wrench I do is mostly for something to do, like installing a new track, putting on a sleigh hitch, or changing mufflers. I've never owned such a low maintenance machine.

This week it was a broken H arm in the rear skid, split muffler and a slightly bent front subframe. I guess its to be expected running with machines that have double the HP and weigh 50 lbs less. And BTW, my machine is not a lemon. All I've ever lost was the front subframe, 2 A arms, all the ball joints and tie rods and bushings, both spindles, both rails, 3 H arms, 1 rear shock, and the motor. Other than that she's bulletproof.

Why are you talking about a phazer in a nytro thread? Not really comparable machines IMO.

I know how you feel. I few years back, I picked up my 08 Nytro in the spring, and watched it sit there all summer, couldn't wait for the snow, so in the fall I buzzed around the yard some, in the grass..........

Especially if you're talking about Yamaha's being underpowered.

On a side note, after all my talk about never needing to wrench on the Nytro, I spent today spinning wrenches instead of riding. Went out this morning planning to so some suspension adjustments and noticed my limiter straps broken off. Between pulling everything apart, driving around trying to find something to use as limiter straps, and putting everything back together, my day is shot.

You are right of course - completely different. I would expect Nytros to be much better in quality. I get out riding 60 or 70 times a year so I guess you can't expect anything to stand up to that.

Where are you from natedogg? Still a couple days left in Northern Wi that is good enough for a 'shake down' ride.
Congrats on your new sled.
Mike.

Hey Newf. I just made the connection(avy's). Hope everything is going well for you back home. Looks like you've had a good season.
BTW - You are missed by some of the 'wingers over on fs!

Hey!
Everything is going really well back home on the rock, thank you very much, and you're right, it's been an awesome season for playing in the snow.
