Here are a few pics of my progress converting my powderlites manifold to Ted's new unit. Quite a bit of work for a powderlites kit to make this one work. CPR I'm sure would be a breeze to change over.

Hahah thanks Jim! Yeah that damn thing has been on and off 100 times to trial fit. SS lines will mean no more heat damaged coolant lines.

Are there any issues with the turbine so close to the alumn steering gate? On cars you usually need like 1-3" all around those parts or heat wrapped or something.

Looks awesome I can dream about FI on a sled but too much money for me. I will live vicariously through you :)

looks real good Jaime! I cant wait till i drop off my apex to Ted. I have your current powderlites set up and going to go this other route as well. One ? for you, are you still running the powderlites controller box?

No I am having Derek Fisher flash the box to his specs now, instead of Daves the box was never 100% at this lower altitude.

There is a TON of stuff to make this work on powderlites kit. I went with a different turbo, downpipe, header etc lots of refab.

The hoses Dave sells the kit with get cooked by the turbo heat and leak all the time also the oil drain into the head we could never stop it leaking. I have running fully braided lines now everywhere with maching clamped fittings to stop leaks. Also modded the downpipe on this one, intercooler is being cut and changed now as well.

I feel your pain with the powerlites set up. I wrenched more than i rode last season. And thats why Ted is getting my sled. I am gettin a new turbo and header as well. I will have to talk to him about the lines though. Keep up the good work Jaime it looks great.

With Teds help I beleive you guys are goig to have a really great turbo sled there Jamie . Looks like you have all the problems covered. Keep us posted after you have run tthat beast. Keep up the good work.

I had nothing but headaches with the previous kit. After running an MPI SC for a season I had high hopes of the turbo. The kit from MPI fits like a glove its truely the best engineered system I have ever seen from an aftermarket manufacturer. The PL kit was far less then what I had previously expected with promises of no melting of any stock plastics yeah right.

This header with Teds turbo should finally rock and roll, this season I have a ported cyl head, 3 stacked head gaskets with stock cam timing and stock ignition timing going to be running 10-12 psi. All SS lines will keep coolant leaks and oil leaks from happening. Also Teds tech support is second to none and he has been nothing but helpful with me. Another point to concider.

It sounds to me that most of your issues with the PL kit was heat. did you vent your tank shroud and hood well and tape all of your hoses extremely well?? Most of the PL kits I have seen have not had heat issues with the plastic. I have a PL kit and have all of my plastic around the turbo vented well with lots of 1 3/4 holes. All of my hoses have been wrapped with header tape. Don't know about your fuel controller at low altitude every thing we ride is 4000 feet plus. Did you have issues with your PL header? Are you using different heat sheilds?

Just thought I would ask. Sounds like your trying to stay away from bashing but I would sure like to hear any issues so I can get in front of them.

Stainless hoses would be sweet as long as you take good care in making sure they do not rub on anything rubber or any electrical wires. Did you have the stainless coolant lines made?

No ones turbo kit is perfect for all situations. They all have their little glitches. But that is why i love this site,so we all may learn from each other and hopefully better our turbo set ups. Bye the way :4STroke:
