I've said this many times. Billet Wheels are not for trail sleds, Ruber coated or not, they cant take the abuse. Any amount of sand/rocks/wood that gets mixed in on the trail will Kill these wheels quickly. I hope they stand behind them because I know what they cost. Even on my Mountain sled I'm carefull where I ride around the parking lots. Good Luck ===SRXSRULE===

Looks nasty... I was thinking on going billet 8" next year but was afraid of that. Looks like my question was answered. Has anyone tried plastic 8" wheels? I'm putting a cat suspension in over the summer and am thinking about 8 inch plastic ones. Do 8 inch inch wheels work well on the RX1? Any experience with them would be appreciated.

Absolutely Correct Sir!
I never saw any sense in them either.....this post confirms my suspicions. Kind of like the trick aluminum skis my buddy put on his Storm way back when.......made it one ride and they were toast.

Yes I have used the Plastic ones and they do work. Which year RX do you have. The 03 & 04 transfer rods are a potential problem. If the wheel isn't installed perfectly, the bottom of the rod can hit the wheel.

Buckeye, My RX is an 03. I'm going to install a ZR skid with rail extensions. The extensions come in either standard or 8" wheel sizes. Seems like there should be less rolling resistance. I'm just looking to set it up right the first time. Doesn't seem like there should be any clearance issues. Bob

Fullback,
I'd go with 8" dia.. Definitely less rolling resistance. I've got a set of 8" wheels which I'm putting on my 03 RX1. I've seen RX1's with the 8" plastic wheels which have no problems.
