Scott that drive is going to SUCK!!!! and the hoops I have to jump threw for US customs to get this sled accross the line is ridiculous it is going to cost me about $350.00 just to cross into the US with it!!!!

Anyways we are bringing our 6 year old daughter with us and that kid is sooo excited to come to MN I have no idea what she is expecting but MN better have something spectacular for her!!!

We have the Mall of America ( designed by some of your fellow Canadians )

15,000+ lakes to enjoy too.

Time your visit around Haydays and you will not be disappointed from a sledders perspective.

I do that driver regularly, and no offense to anyone from North or South Dakota, but it would be a much nicer drive without your states involved. Please plant more trees. Please.

Just sayin'

Just going to Minnesota is enough to be excited about!!!!

I miss HayDays and the 15000 lakes!!! Love the riding Alaska has to offer compared to MN. Especially recently.

I will be in Minnesota 6-24-6-27 when is Haydays??

WE will be headed down the July long weekend..leaving here Thursday night I hope to be in Paynesville Friday night, drop sled Sat and then head back home.

Hehe. I've done that Run. When we go to Cooke we go straight south to Fargo then west all the way thru ND. Well I shouldn't laugh Manitoba is pretty wide open where I am.

Jan what is the $350 charge for or what is it called?

If I "Make Entry" I have to pay all the duty and taxes on the sled to get it into the US plus brokerage fees. If I do TIB- Temporary Importation Underbond" it is the fees for the brokerage plus I have to come up with a $30,000.00 bond.

We are crossing at Portal ND, dropping down through Minot and Jamestown across to Moorhead and then down to Paynesville. Mapquest says 15 hrs and 42 mins.

Well we thought about that but with all the work that has to be done to get it to a black we thought it would be just easier to get Skinz to do it. Besides I would like to go down there and meet them and my 6 year old is beside herself excited to go to MN for some reason.......

Well, enjoy. I guarantee you'll never meet better people! They're awesome! Great to talk to in person...

I've taken my sled across the line at least 10 times and never paid anything. Or did any paperwork. Is your sled registered here in Canada? If so I don't understand why you would need to do anything if the sled is not changing hands. You would however have to pay tax on the mods on the way back in.

Are you located in the gap?

I have to do this because I am taking it down for the specific purpose of getting mods done. If I was say going sledding and then getting mods done it wouldn't be an issue. Part of the problem is that I am leaving it down there to get worked on. They are afraid I am going to try to dump it down there or something. I know that I will pay the GST on my mods but no duty because it falls under NAFTA on the way home.

I think I am being too honest and telling them exactly what I am doing. I want to do it right because we travel down to Sweet Grass every month to pick up stock I can't afford to lose that cross border access over a sled.

Wouldn't it be cheaper and easier to just build it yourself?

MN is a great state and I love it here, but I flat out have to concur with Moto on this one. If your from Alaska/ Northern Canada you have to cover a quarter of a continent or so to get here!

I do AK to MN about once a year yeah it's a long drive, trying to come up with a new truck to drive up in july. Scott I couldn't agree more about the dakotas. But a lot of canada is not much better. You guy's need to man up and do a AK riding trip, I'm planning on a BC/lower 48 trip again next winter.

This is funny before the black project started I was already gonna order all the parts they are putting on. Now that the black project came out im just doing it my self and powder coating everything black, mainly spindels, rails and tunnel. Things gonna look ill and its only gonna cost me around 5k so no complaints there. I would list all the products im gonna throw on but I dont know if I can do that. Also Skinz and OFT are the best. Ive never had better or more honest tech service ever.

Well good to know. I had no idea the process was different for having the sled "repaired" I'm guessing it would be the same for any motor vehicle then.

Good luck with it man, I hope it goes well for you ;)!

WOOT WOOT WOOT

I finally got my entry number now we are officially allowed to enter the US with my sled!!!!!

MN here we come!!!!
