i got the oil changed got it started I think got some of the bugs worked out. But I didnback fire once, and the coolant assembly right off of the reservoir was smoking and and was getting hot! It was smoking. Do you have any thoughts on this please help! I am getting close to this running good!

It is actually the thermostat housing that is smoking or steaming! It is a 2005 Rs Rage!

I didn’t see any leaks anywhere, is there a thermostat that would cause this to heat like it is or is this normal? What would cause the single back fire?

Once up to temp if there is condensation on that part, it will steam and the back fire could be from dirty pilots.

I cleaned the carb up last year, been working on this off and on since last year, I had lost some parts on the carb, then ordered them and cleaned the carb. could it be from sitting for so long and got moisture in there or do they get dirty again over time?

Sitting 6 months with 87 octane will do it. The ethanol will separate from fuel and cause all kinds of issues.

This will be a great start. Good clean fuel, carbs and fully charged battery will do wonders
