The coolant level keeps rising in my coolant tank.

What could it be? Head gasket, Rad cap, air lock......

Did a 70 mile rip today and temps stayed between 168 and 176. Every rip the coolant level rises in the tank

Interesting... Does it stay high? You store in heated garage after ride? I have noticed some weird fluctuations with my coolant levels at times also..

Yes its in a heated garage. It comes down a bit when cool but not as far down as previous ride. About 1/2 inch higher after every ride.

If oil was getting into the coolant and causing it to rise in level, you would think it would look some what milky with the mixing of oil. Also at the same time your oil level would be dropping I'd assume. Is your oil level dropping and your having to add engine oil ?
Other wise it could be an air lock I would think ?

Oil level is steady. Wouldn't oil level go up with Head gasket failure?

I beilieve oil level will go up if coolant is entering oil system, plus oil will definitely be a milky colour. You might have an air lock. Open the filler cap and see if there's coolant just below the neck, add at that location if neccasry.

Coolant and oil look normal. Not milky.

I can see the coolant in the neck when I take the cap off.

Is there a way to bleed the system?

Not sure exactly how to bleed the system. You could try raising the front of sled up so that heat exchanger (tunnel) is slightly angled upward With the filler cap removed first then start the engine and run to normal operating temp. Keep an eye on the level in the filler neck and add if it burps and level lowers. Myself I haven't tried this method on this snowmobile but has work with others.
Maybe someone will chime in as to properly bleed the system on these Sidewinders.

Thanks. I'll give it a try!

My coolant expansion tank has been well below the cold level since i've had the sled and everytime i pop the cap to add coolant it practically overflows while cold. Have you noticed if your engine running temps have changed?

I'm having an issue with mine as well. After sled is shut off you hear coolant boiling somewhere but its up at the cap and in tank. I'm certain mine has air in is so I have to try and get it out. I was told the aluminum tank beside the turbo has an air bleed on it for cooling system so I will try that if not its off to dealer. I called them on it and they seem to think Im nuts.

I always hear the same noise with mine, I’m sure I have an air lock somewhere to. Last year I had a hell of a time with this sled overheating, trails were pretty hard but it looked like it was kicking up some decent snow and none of the other sleds I rode with were over heating. Went into limp mode like 15 times overheating. If you find out the proper way to bleed this thing I would be interested! Thanks

My sleds at the cabin so I wont have an update until after the weekend. If I am unable to figure it out the dealer can as I wont nuke the engine cause they didnt prep it properly.
