Thanks, that's what I thought. I seem to be ok. Can't figure out why I got hot a few times when others didn't, even with the rear exchanger. Hopefully, the Royal Purple will help.Mighty said:Use the tester that has the little balls. When you suck in the coolant you'll see all the balls go to the top indicating way too much coolant. Depending on what the tester says you usually want at least 2 balls to drop to the bottom.

i think the dealers should be checking the coolant mixture before they let them go

Yea they should but they dont. I just checked my 09 LTX and yep 100% coolant, all of the balls in the tester were floating.
I checked the service manual and the LTX holds about 5 quarts, so I drained about a quart and added some water, tested and now one ball stays at bottom, which indicates -25... good enough for me.

i hear ya, most dealers are good for prepping machines, but there are a lot to that just fling them out the door, when your spending thousands of dollars on these machines and they over heat it ruins your day fast

I put the heat exchanger on both my Apex and Vector, dropped the anti freeze back to 50/50, also added Water Wetter. Have not had a problem. My tracks are also studded and it gets nowhere the exchanger to ripe it out.

Both sleds are 121". I am running 144 studs down the outside and inside. There 1 3/8. I din't run any protectors as if the track got way up where the exchanger is, something in the suspension must have gone way wrong. Haven't had any problems. Nice not to see the light come on.

The 121's are not the problem its the ltx's and attacks with studs and the mono suspension, even the warriors don't have near as much of a clearance problem as the mono suspension on the attack and apex LTX. The small cooler will not work without major fabrication and major loss of suspension travel with studs for sure and without studs the jury is out. The rear mountain cooler will work but according to my measurements would still require fabricating of the tunnel protectors to stop the suspension so the studs don't wipe out that cooler. The optimal way to mount it would be up on top of the tunnel extension (cutting a opening in tunnel ext) but still requires fab work but then studs would not be a issue & you would get full suspension travel. I have not tried this yet but its the way i'm headed in the off season. I aso have done the antifreeze mix reduction and cooling additive and so far have been ok for this season. Just what I have found in my short Yamaha ownership, but do LOVE my new used Yamaha !schroon said:Both sleds are 121". I am running 144 studs down the outside and inside. There 1 3/8.
