I am about to mount rail based scratchers with the main goal of COOLING on refreeze mornings in spring conditions.
I can see how the spray of ice chips/snow lubes the slides, I read that they help with cooling as well.

My question is with only a Front of Tunnel heat exchanger how does the spray get to the heat exchanger?

    Thanks

It does one way or another, when I switched from 1.6" cobra to 2.25" pc I noticed a temp jump on hard pack, put the scratchers down and she's back to 167° in no time

It gets picked up by the track and tossed all over the place...

That fine dust on those dry mornings gets sucked up by the track like a vacuum and thrown to the front of the tunnel. Snow is great but dust is all you need

I'm going to try ski mounted scratchers this year on my Viper. I have a pair in the garage to install. I think it'll create more activity near the front of the tunnel.

Thanks I suppose we just need enough to moisten the aluminum of the heat exchanger, not a steady direct path of ice/snow. Thanks for the reassurance guys have a great day.

My worry or concern is from a refreeze spring day when my Viper ridden by a friend was hot, but the Apex, Vector a Poo and Doo were not. We noticed just the slightest loose snow and temp dropped right down to 165-167. So I am hoping these scratchers will only be used a few times a year and keep the temps down.
    Thanks for the explanations.

I am surprised with the big rad in the front you have any issues?
Having said that - i remember once or twice on super cold dry mornings the nytro would run hot.
Once you have scratchers its all good. It doesnt take that much material to keep that front heat exchanger cooled down.

I had my sidewinder out in 6+C last year expecting the worst. But it ran all day no problem. That wet snow being thrown up there was great. Had a scratcher down for a bit to make sure lots of snow was being turned up, but likely didnt need it.

Better to have them and not need them, than to need them and not have them.....

I was surprised also with the Radiator that I over heated so easily on a refreeze morning, I mounted the BRP two coil rail mounts this am and they worked out great will see in spring if they do as I hoped. Sounds like I should be fine from all of your experiences

The rail mounts work great. As others mentioned the track creates a vacuum and sucks all of the snow/dust up front to the rad.
I am curious if the ski mounted scratchers work as well as the rail mount. Sleds with the exchangers under the foot wells the ski mounted scratchers work very well
