Found a small crack high in my bulkhead were the rivit holdes on the plastics. Can It be welded? What is it made of? Would I have to remove it from the sled or can i disconnect the battery and weld in place?
Yes it can be alloy welded, you need to make sure nothing will melt behind the area as it will get real hot.
Also the area will need to be cleaned with acid and a grinder used to ruffened up.
I have been using a product called HTS-2000 recently with real good results.
I researched it on line and then bought it off ebay for like 10-15 bucks for 5 rods. I did some weld tests with it first then tried it on my sled.
I have patched 3 different holes in heat exchangers but have not tried it on a bulkhead.
the stuff melts at 700 degrees. about 500 below the aluminum melt point. You heat the area with a torch and once it is hot enough apply the rod to it. the rod melts into the broken material simple as that.
I know it sounds too good to be true but trust me. if you follow the directions it works.
do a search on hts-2000. company claims you can weld just about anything with it. there are videos of how to do it on thier web site too.
Good luck
