Should I replace the shiv or the whole clutch ? The sled has 1700 km and its a Turbo RX1.
you can buy both sheaves.Chances are if it got that hot to crack your sheave the other one is warped.

I'll run a dial on both. Good point. I am afraid that once the spider has been removed that it may come loose later on as that has happened to a few Cats around here.

Huh?
No worries about the spider coming loose, it doesn't come off. These aren't cats.
You first remove the fixed sheave (reverse thread) from the shaft and pop the collars off, then you remove the clutch COVER and spring. When the cover is removed, the sliding sheave slides off past where the fixed was located. The spider is an unremovable part of the shaft.

This is a cat clutch;

* Note how the fixed sheave is permanently attached to the shaft and the spider is removable.
This is a Yamaha clutch;

* Note how the fixed sheave comes off the shaft and the spider is permanently attached.
Also note that the engine will TIGHTEN the fixed sheave onto the shaft, so it can never loosen.
