- 2012 FX Nytro XTX SC
Both my 2012 Nytro XTX's got new Crossover 1.5 tracks this year and with only 300 miles on them I couldn't be happier. I really struggled with choosing between the Cobra 1.6 and Crossover 1.5. My number one complaint with the Ripsaw was the pushing in the corners as I seldom go off trail. My son hated that he couldn't go off trail. I wanted a deeper lug track with less side bite to free up the rear of the sled and provide some added off trail capabilities. I did not want to remove any tunnel protectors so the Back Country was not considered. My fear was the Cobra would have the same side bite as the Ripsaw. The Crossover solved the pushing problem allowing me to lighten up the steering. The other concern was hook up and wear. My Nytro is supercharged and I think there is nothing more exhilarating than that 20-60mph pull off a corner. This track hooks up like crazy! My sled is set up with the transfer rods set in the middle, limiter straps pulled up one hole and the ski springs loose when no weight on them. Add 300lbs of rider and the skis still lift off when I stick it hard. I'm 50 years old. Doing wheelies all day is not something I was looking for, but damn is it fun! I can't comment on the wear issue, but when the Cobra 1.6 features a soft flexible lug I can only assume it's going to wear faster. The only disappointment came when the lugs hit the protectors on the heat exchanger on my son's sled. A few lugs hit enough to prevent rolling the track by hand. On my sled, there is maybe 1/8" of clearance with three lugs rubbing the protectors. I little time spent with a utility knife and all is good. I wanted a looser handling sled and got it. I wanted a better hookup and got it. What I didn't know I was getting was a whole new sled. What a difference.

I've run that track on 2 different sleds for over 15,000 miles. I'm seriously considering removing the Backcountry on my Nytro and putting the Crossover on it. I miss the total control it affords me vs. the slipping and sliding I get with the Backcountry.
