Crunch

Parts is parts

The total came to $3800 for the repair. Thank goodness for insurance.
The service tech said that he has done over 1000 collision jobs and has
never seen anything like this.

The most expensive items were:
Front Frame - 8ES219400000 - $954
Steering Gate - 8ES238700000 - $370

The labor was 20 hours.

The folks that did the repair at Hudson Cycle in Hudson, NH did
a great job at scrounging parts. There were some parts that were
backordered and they called around to other dealers to get the
parts.

Glad you got your sled back and insurance did it's job. Like Impala said early on, at least you didn't get hurt. Stuff burried under the snow can seriously hurt you. (or worse)

Sorry about the bad luck. I had the same thing happen to me, Except the rock was only sticking 2 inches up on the trail. I came over a little aproach and it must have bottemed out right on the rock. Broke the Die cast alum and ripped the oil pan. $3,200.00 on my 03 rx1. My buddy hit the same rock with his xc 800 and the only thing he did was put a dent in the belly pan. He has a lot more room under the hood then we do. My next sled is going to have a belly pan and is going to have that flimsy plastic oil pan cover replaced with a steel one... Would have saved me 3200..

Thanks for the feedback! Your responses have helped ease the
pain a bit!

Someone mentioned that a skid plate may have helped avoid
the damage. Do you folks have any recommendations for skidplates?

BTW: I picked up a used Vector this weekend with 250 miles on
it. My wife and I are already fighting over who gets to ride it until
the Rage is fixed! :D

05 Rage (Well, 1/2 of one until it is fixed)
05 Vector ER
01 Skidoo 380F (Son's sled)
skid plates are useless as far as I can see on these sleds..I wouldn't buy one because I cant see much added protection at all.

It might not look like a lot but it could be the difference between you riding or you sitting with a broken sled.

I think that belly pan protector>> protecting much of anything is a very slim chance it would help most damage always accures to the swing arms and the front of the bulkhead already has about as good as you can do for protection ..so wth can it protect...the inspection plate under the sled which is very thick and strong anyways? I think in this case if you put anything on that I've seen it mainly >cosmetic< :ORC just my opinion.
