I wanted to post about our Phazer and Attak that we put the new Curve Skis on. Both these machines we were extremely happy with the results. Both sleds tracked very straight with little to no darting with very easy turning with very precise feedback to the rider. Prior to adding these skis, we felt the Phazer was all over the trail and pushed in the corners slightly. The Attak would push even more through the corners than the Phazer and had a tendency to follow everyone else's grooves. Even with varying snow packs the skis hold there line extremely well.
I wanted to share just a bit of info and we will continue are testing thru the next season. At that time I will try to do an over evaluation and have more info on these skis on the FX Nytro as well.

Yes if your on a trail with 10 foot hills on each side.. and 2 feet of snow and theres like moguls on the trail.. well drifts but seemed like moguls lol it pulls you around.. alot.. but i think if it reduced that problem i will get some of these skis and then i can ride that trail safely.. lol

Tom, what carbides did you run on the Phazer. I really love these ski's but found the steering very heavy with 6" carbide. I have as et of the new carbides coming but would like to hear what you ran.

I ran the 6" Shapers and thought it was great!! But I also ride a Nytro that has really heavy steering...

I run the stock mtn skis with a 6 inch bergstrom carbide, shimmed 1/4 on rear of rubber, and easily run 60mph on hard pack trails with no darting.
Guys really should try shimming, before completely giving
up on the stock skis.

What do these new curve skis cost?

We are currently running a spring special until April 15th. You will get skis and loops with your choice of color along with a sled specific hardware kit for $419. The hardware kit includes custom fasteners with a combination of 304 stainless and carbon steel for the spindle bolt. We also include a specially designed spindle rubber that requires no shimming and perfectly compliments the ski system.
Carbides range in price from $40 to $70 depending on length and configuration.
Retail after our sale is $429 for skis and loops plus $37.99 for hardware plus carbides.
We were quite happy with the 6" carbide Tom runs on his Phazer however we've recently sent Reaper our special Nytro carbide system to see if that helps his heavy steering any.

Thx guys, I was running a 6" regular carbide not a shaper bar so not sure how that would effect the steering if any. Heavy steering was an issue in the spring with thawing and freezing and trails becoming hard packed, may have been more related to the conditions than anything else. Snow is all gone so will have to wait until next year
BTW, the guys at CurveXS are top notch !!!

Can you explain the shimming or get me the link that explains it a little more. (shim with what, etc). I'm mechanically inclined, but not "sled smart" ...meaning I'm not 100 % sure about how each adjustment makes what difference.

To answer your question, "Shimming" when referred to snowmobile ski adjustments is the act of adding some type of spacer beneath the REAR foot of your spindle rubber. What this effectively does is place a force behind the spindle bolt axis and keeps a preload on the back half of your ski.
Benefits include keeping the ski tips up, which makes it more difficult for the ski to pull you in different directions (resists darting). Shimming also aids in mogul negotiations whereby your skis aren't "limp". You'll hit the hole with the bottom of the ski instead of the tips. Again, your sled will track straight and resist throwing you out of control.
People generally get creative with PVC or Nylon blocks that are readily available at a plastic supplier or hardware store. It will be necessary to try several sizes prior to obtaining the perfect match.
Curve XS skis come with a custom spindle rubber that has a firmer durometer rating along with an extra deck height thickness which adds the preload exactly as we designed.
Coupled with our skis, this precisely engineered system offers uncompromised control in any condition.

I looked around the site some more and found it on the home page/tech page. Thanks
tom, take a piece of 1/8 in lexan and install it between the two center studs of the carbide before installing. you will need to bend the carbide a bit in the vise before doing this to make the drop down shape in the carbide. doing this will make the skis stear easier.
while you have the the carbides off, cut the front tapered way back at an angle and round off. it may help save your front end some day from catching a carbide on a rock or rail road crossing.

Does that bend the ski to run more on the center carbide and less on the keel?
no it doesnt, i pre bend the carbide for the shape it will be.
