I would like to maybe make my own undertunnel exhust for a summer project. I would be making it for my 2008 yamaha nytro rtx. I would like for it to be compatible with a studded track and would also like to shed some weight if possible. I would like to hear you guys' oppinions on header modifications, which slip on i should use and how to close off the tunnel. would like to not have to break the bank on this set-up too.
thanks

I've been wanting to do this for a long time, and never seem to get around to it. If you could find a short muffler, no longer than 12", it would be easy to do with no modifications to the header. My plan has been to put on the shorter muffler and a tail pipe that turns down, and close off the tunnel with a box rather than flush with the tunnel. The problem I've been having is finding the short muffler.

yes that would be simple and easy and you can get the tunnel enclosure from SKINZ, it raises up about 2 inches it looks like so it would be perfect. But finding the short muffler would be hard

How loud do you want it?

not loud that the problem, need to be quiet for the noise nazis we have! I love the sound of my pipe but when shes cold and i start it up holy balls shes a beast no sneaking out to ride with this baby! Once shes warm and idles its not too noticeable above stock, its louder by a bit but not till you get on her does she let loose.

I run a muffler made by Coast fab but its not quiet. They offer a 14" long 2" but they can shorten them, and thats from tip to tip so you could try to shorten everything else up and not reduce the muffler size. Mine is a smaller diameter muffler and 17" long. It does quiet it but is still loud. Oh and there mufflers weigh nothing, mine weighs 2.6 pounds
