I have put a lot of miles on this setup. Both 3-3 and 6-1. I have a thread started. 3-3 worked very well and the clutches ran really cool. with 6-1 I seem to have a bit more top end revs but a lot more heat.
I’m leaving it at 6-1 though. It’s all about the speed.

I'll be staying in Sinclair Feb 21st thru 24th with my son. He rides my old sled a well running 2011 Apex SE maybe we can meet up for a ride. I've never been to the trains so we may try and do that one day unsure what the distance is from Sinclair. Let me know if your gonna be around that week.
You’d probably have to stay overnight if you ride down to the trains from Sinclair, then ride back the next day. It’s a haul from up in the northern part of the County.

How’s the belt holding up Joe with more heat? Any problems?? Or all ok?
Ya if I see more top End speed like you have... I’ll leave mine there too. Why wouldn’t we lol...

Yes,its even a ride to and from,if you leave from patten, absolutely a heavy days ride to and from off long lake. You’d probably have to stay overnight if you ride down to the trains from Sinclair, then ride back the next day. It’s a haul from up in the northern part of the County.

Belts holding up well, especially compared to last year. I have somewhere around 2300 miles on this xs 825 belt. How’s the belt holding up Joe with more heat? Any problems?? Or all ok?

Good info.
I am running 3-3 on stock weights. My clutches are pretty cool now. I was considering going to 6-1.
May I ask some specifics of difference in top end? How about backshift? Which is more responsive, snappier, corner to corner?
Thanks

All the good questions , the back shift is very close to the same with both setups. I did find that 3-3 might be a little more responsive corner to corner ,but the difference is almost not noticeable.Good info.

As far as top end speed I noticed at 6-1 it pulled up to 115 a lot faster then at 3-3. I seen 120-121 a few times on piston ally.

Wow...that’s some serious miles on a belt with a sled of this power...guess the clutching is working pretty well lol.

Yes a higher degree of wrap is always gonna backshift faster, and rev higher thru the shift when compared to less degree of wrap. Just like keeping your race bike in 2nd gear longer so you can blow by everyone coming out of the light.
Revving a tad higher at trail speeds offers a snappier feel.
The key is to not have too much backpressure, so you still can shift out to make good top speeds, and not have too much heat from the clutches fighting eachother.
Dale makes a great point about gearing and also which weights you run...Testing is best way to get your combo.

Very cool.
I plan on running this weekend out there. I was thinking of bringing some tools and trying both wraps on Piston Alley but I think traffic is going to be heavy.
What track are running? I have a Backcountry 1.75 that hurts me.

I ride in Northern Maine...corner to corner is not in play up there very often...and if the back shift difference is almost not noticeable, and the top end is improved nicely...that’s a win win with that simple adjustment imo.

1.25 ripsaw. Your track will change the way you setup the clutch for sure.Very cool.

If you are testing on piston ally be very careful where you stop and stay on the side. Your right it’s busy up there. Alere said he sold 20 grand in gas sales Saturday alone.
