- 2011 Nytro XTX
Was noticing that on every trip, my 2011 Nytro XTX is always showing more miles rode than others in the group. Yes spinning makes the difference, but on an easy ride on rock hard trails, not messing with the throttle, just easy riding, I compared the dash readout to my GPS and noticed that on a 203 mile ride according to GPS, the sled shows 217 miles. I've even went out with my daughter for a ride which would eliminate "playing" and again, mileage always reads high on the dash compared to GPS. Just wondering if it is possible to calibrate the speed sensor to get a more accurate reading?

It's always been that way. It because the speedo is off. Speedo shows 80 mph. GPS shows 75. Odometer is going to show more miles than actually ridden. My 07 when showing 109 is actually only running about 93, so my odometer is way out to lunch. Not in a good way either.
On my 09 XTX the speedo is fast 2 mph at 60 on the GPS. At 30 mph it is off 1 mph. So yes the odometer is reading slightly fast but not really that much.

If it's a twisty trail remember the GPS measures distance by plotting points and drawing a straight line between them.
That can cut corners on a twisty trail giving a falsely low measurement.
