Dealer said there was some inside news / rumors that yamaha is getting a 900 (2 450cc dirt bike engines) into the phazer frame. The name will be differant than the phazer but same style. His source said the weight will be around 480lbs. Also said the HP #s will surprise alot of people just like the phazer did geting 80 hp out of the 500cc.

I'm hoping that Yammy can miraculously incorporate the 3 cylinder motor in the new FX chassis. That would be sweet.

I talked to a Yamaha Rep that told me they tried the 450 doubled up and it didn't work out.
I think it's going to be a triple based on the YZ250F motor.Heared it will be ready in 09.
Also heared yami took the guy's off the 09 project to build more preproduction phazers and I don't think they were to happy about it.

The 120 , fuel injected with reverse and change the compression & cams up a bit to get around 150 h.p. like Dynorays kit does, his makes 150 h.p. keeping the weight at 490 dry and giving it a 159x14" track , like the new Doo lite versions with center holes and large windows , Bingo, Light , Mt. sled, boondocker with potential to be a MONSTER boosted ! Just my wish...LOL
The inside talk is the 900 will be in the consumer snocross sled in two years. The 900 meets the 600cc 2 stroke rule.

If they are coming out with a 900 that would definately influence my decission on buying a Phazer.A 900 Exciter with 120+ hp would be wicked turboed

I think the idea behind the twin is a very light weight engine to fit in the phazer frame

Did this "Rep" give any reasons ? Here's my take for what it's worth...... I'm from the old school and believe that when you pass 600cc on Twins the Harmonics(sp.?) and Vibration goes up and the Economy, Reliability start to go down ? I'd like to see Yamaha build a all new 6-700cc (Max) twin which would put it around 100Hp. and in between the 80Hp Phazer and the Vector/Rage/Nytro's 120 Hp. or else build a new tripple to fit the Phazer.

Bump the bore from 77 to 84mm and with a little tweaking, they'd have a 100hp 600cc twin. That seems like a no-brainer to me.

why go for 100 hp ? That makes no sense to me ?
Why only bump it twenty h.p. ? They have the small, medium and large sled but what they don't have is the horse power to weight ratio of the other manufacturer's , If they were to upgrade the cams in the tripple and inject it to bring the h.p. to 150 or close then modify the Phazer chasis to accept it we'd have our light, high horse power machine that they now are lacking ! This would also be a sure competitor in the snowcross they're entering again. They could achieve with a four stroke the weight to H.p. of all the other competitors and then there would be NO excuse for Doo, Poo and Cat guys. This motor has proven itself to be a dependable torque monster why not improve on this ? Then they'd naturally bump the Apex up to 175 h.p. which is not difficult to do either. The other option would be a factory turbo of some sort making big numbers in a light weight package....... this is just my opinion !

You're bent on excessive power. MOST PEOPLE don't want all that power. I sure as hell don't want all the power that my sled has. The only reason I bought it is because it was time to replace my old sled ('87 Exciter), and this was the ONLY THING AVAILABLE (because EVERY other sled on the market was CRAP). Honestly, for me, and a LOT of other people, the perfect setup would be THIS CHASSIS (RX1) with a 100hp 600 twin 4stroke. That would make a nice lightweight sled with decent performance. The 500 engine is just a little too small.

Well if he is bent on hp than so am i,lol i want a 175+hp apex or even more he he you cant get enough hp ever, snow sleds eat so much hp that buy the time you get it to the ground you would need a good 200hp sled to really keep me happy 100% of the time. or at least 120hp at the track lol..
