I came from a 2004 Ski-Doo Renegade 800 which went great off trail. The '07 Attak trenches bad. I intend to replace the skis with Simmons like I have every sled I've owned recently but I'm thinking that won't help with the trenching.

Has anyone done anything other than lengthen theirs out to 144"?

I would have bought a Polaris FST Switchback to get the 4 stroke but I trailride a lot and don't want 144.

Thanks.

You gotta fix the approach angle; that,s the culprit. 144 will float better but you still have the same issue. My 98 MSRX tank was vastly better in deep snow then my 06 & 07 Attak.I traded my Attak on a Nytro just for that fact. The new nytro has a lot better approach angle. I am gonna 136 it & have a blast. Attak does everything very well except deep snow.

approach angle

You may be right but the Renegad looked like it even had a worse angle. (steeper)In fact, it was a bear to load on my tilt trailer and the Attak goes right on. It can't compare in deep snow though. Pretty disappointed with that. Thanks.

Get rid of the Ripsaw for off trail, get a six pitch or intense track and get the Simmons skis for sure. I have the Simmons skis on my Apex and the Predator (six pitch) 1.25 and there is a night and day difference off trail, the Ripsaw is the trenching problem. That is just my opinion, from experience.

It ain,t the ripsaw. A bud has a 700 X-fire with a ripsaw & that thing goes places I can only dream of going. It works as well as a lot of mountain sleds in deep pow.

approach angle+engagement+weight of machine vs.footprint=trenching..

bring down engagement add flotation ski's and roll the chaincase and it will be better...
