I am having fits trying to figure out what's going on here with my Diagnostic lights. Here's the scenario:
* I checked my oil cold.....Showed low, about 1/2 way between marks
* I warmed it up good and checked it again and it shows over-full.
* My dash light is flashing
2 Long....1 Short with orange light and engine symbol (See Picture)
The manual doesn't say what these codes mean, or at least not in plain English. Anyone have any ideas?

Did you mess around with your Handle Bars? If your hand warmers are not plugged in right it will cause problems. 1 wire plugs to the other warmer and one wire from each warmer goes to the sled. I got mine from the dealer and they had the warmers plugged into one another and the engine light was on flashing codes, the dealer could not figure it out. I plugged them in right and everthing was ok. I was lucky and found the problem right away. I do not remember what the flashing code was but take a look.

I had the carb rack off to set the idle screws, but that's it. I think Yamaha did a very poor job on the manualas far as being able to diagnose the problem by reading the dash lights.

You should not check your oil cold...It is not like a car...When the machine cools off some of the oil flows back from the oil tank into the engine and you will get a false low reading...When you fill it cold to the marks and warm it up it will be over full...Check after it has been warmed up...I usually check mine after every ride right after I shut it off..

What a great site. The information on here is the best I have seen anywhere....From a bunch of guys that know their stuff.
I started checking wires after work today and found that one of the wires on the 3 prong plug that runs to the PTO side TPS had pulled out of the socket. It wouldn't stay in with the little plastic retaining clip, so I super glued the one wire. The light is out now. I think it may have been loose for a while as I've had that light before and it went away.
Thanks again for the help, Spray you hit the nail on the head bud.
