looking at a 2009 apex rtx new and wanted to know if the have fixed some of the problems the older ones you guys talked about on here.. thanks curtis

My opinion, if you don't need to go 110+MPH. Don't get the Apex RTX. Get a Nytro, either std. or XTX. If you want the Apex seating and motor (it is sweet) than you'd be better off with a GT or even a LTX-GT. The RTX will not be a rough trail machine. Do a search and you will read the problems plaguing the skid in the 07' and up. I had an 06' with the Mono, not a RTX skid either but with work it was pretty good, a compromise, which doesn't seem to be the case with the CK. There are a quite a few on hear with them and I'm sure some will chime in. Maybe they have found the holy ground by which to setup the CK. I think the fact that Yam didn't offer it for 10' tells you that it just wasn't working. Again since you are interested in RTX I would say Nytro RTX S.E., I'm guessing but I would think the XTX could probably handle more than the Apex RTX. Better shock calib and less weight.

bruce at pioneer can revalve your shocks on a 3 stage setup. and tell you the ins and outs of the ck skid. the fox floats on the front are of no other. they just rock!!!! any of these rear skids suck without work.

Aggreed! A revalve from Bruce @ pioneer corrected my issues with the skid. I am happy with mine. ;)!

Also, I think the 09 RTX has a rear heat exchanger. (I added one)

:~) S

LJ 452 has the story right as far as I'm concerned. The shock valving is just the first step to correcting. Although some claim there's no track ratcheting issue, I could never get past it. The suspension design actually releases track tension as it compresses! If you are set up to use full travel, I saw no way around it. There are other problems as well, and I'd be happy to detail my own experience trying to get 'Rough Trail' performance from this skid via PM if you're interested.

The sled, other than the rear suspension, is to die for if you're the sort who enjoys a big heavy power cruiser (former triple lovers know what I'm talking about). After replacing the rear suspension in my sled, I have yet to find a sled I'd swap for it. It's proven itself ultra reliable, and capable of "scare me silly" grin speeds in just a heartbeat.
