I was wondering if anybody has any idea as to the repercusions of disconnecting the TOR sensor? When I turn my handle bars fully one way or the other the engine rev's up a little then the TOR takes over. I don't mind the engine rev'ing up a little but I do mind the engine cutting out in the middle of a turn. This all started when I put on 2" bar risers, will it hurt anything if I just disconnect the dumb thing. Thanks for your help
I am not a big fan of disconnecting it . Yamaha put it there for a reason and it could help some day.
I think your problem lies in the cable (throttle) being to short or you can try to adjust it a bit so you have a bit more play in it . Sometimes if it is to tight it will activate the T.O.R.S.

Disconnecting TORS
The only thing it will do is to disable that safety feature. You have to plug the 2 ends of the cable together to bypass it. The sled will run fine.

TOR Disconnect
Get yourself the RX-Mountain throttle cable. It's about $16. I put it on mine and no problems at all. I don't suggest disconnecting the TORS for warranty reasons. I have the 2" risers and have no problem with revving or cutouts after the longer cable.

I have a mountain sled with a mountain cable right now. My warrenty has already expired, and I have lenthened the cable as long as I could but still when I turn fully to the sides it kicks in. If all it does is protect against against a run away throttle then I'm going to disconnect it. If it has other safety features associated then I'll leave it and figure another fix. No sled I have ever owned has had it, so why do I need it now?
It is only for runaway probs. but it sure will suck if you need it

jtssrx, thanks for the sugestion. I'm not to fond of the cable extension. I have a buddy who has one and it froze up on him once. I may consider it though.

1funrx-1 undo the u shaped cable holder, it is metal. This will give U more room and should not run up the RPMs. Also undo the zip ties to the throttle cable, this may work.

I went for a ride this weekend on my 03 RX-1 and wahsed it after the ride at the local car wash. When I got home I unloaded it let it warm up until the light went out and tried putting it in the garage. It felt like a rev limiter of some sort keeping the engine from coming up in RPMs. Did I not let it warm up enough? Does this have something to do with the TOR?

hey race 24x, Untill the rx is fully warmed it will not let U over rev it to prevent any engine damage. Honk

Thanks, thats what I thought but I let it warm up until the light went out and stuff. It ran for about 4 minutes. Maybe not quite enough I guess just kind of freaked me out.
