I just picked up a 2015 RTX-DX and noticed this same issue running it in the garage. The Intake Air temp does the same thing. So is this mean I need a new Display unit?I have the display set to give bar and numeric values for temp in F . and the last ride i let it idle while and the display went to 199 then to 100 then 101 and up the hundreds digit does not roll over to 2. Its not a big deal as long as the hi temp motor safety shut down is not reading form these numbers. just wondering if any one else has this happening??? does the safety shut down read from display???

That gauge is so erratic in every reading. Just make sure battery is charged good and watch it when riding. Will watch for this myself. I always start and run our engines until the fan starts and runs at the beginning of the season. And both of our Vipers (2014 vintage) go from 199 to the 200’s. I just had both reflashed to correct the speedo readings, the first Viper came home Friday and my temperature gage (Bar and Numeric readings). transitioned from 199-200+ with no issues. I will verify the other viper does the same. I do this every year and have not noted any variance. I will update this response if my other Viper varies from the information stated here.

I know the one time mine shut down with temp light on it was well over 200. 215 maybe?

Steve, I pretty regularly, perhaps twice a year see 212 degrees F. The service manual says the engine goes into a default mode which restricts engine output at about 225 degrees F. And shuts down the engine about 10-12 degrees above that. I don’t remember when the caution light comes on but the 225 temp when the the engine goes into default is likely that point. My Snowmobile Club is consuming most of my time right now but I will research the exact numbers and update this as soon as possible.

Thank You! It was a long time ago when I had the fan reversed. Switched it back to stock right there on trail and it hasn't done it since. May have just did the limiter safety. Will have to find that post I know I warned people here about reversing fan. Was in Houghton doing speed runs. Same day I ripped a-arm off on railroad track! New Years Eve day! Bad way to end a year! LOL have a good night.View attachment 133328

Was your sled delivered with a reversed fan or was it the result of you removing and reinstalling it incorrectly?
Are you referring to the fan being physically mounted reversed or the wiring polarity being reversed?

Reversed polarity. It worked fine till sloppy cold conditions when heat exchanger accumulated bunch of ice on it.Was your sled delivered with a reversed fan or was it the result of you removing and reinstalling it incorrectly?
