DIY HID headlight mounting plate for Apex / Vector

BETHEVIPER inspired me on finding a way to hide all the HID components inside the headlight pod on my Apex:

The bracket is just a piece of sheet metal that fastens inside the dash, directly behind the display. It took some test fitting and drilling holes three different times, but I did manage to make everything fit. The plate and HID components are fastened with stainless 10-24 button-head screws, nyloc nuts and zipties. Now that I have a working template, I will make a new bracket out of aluminum.

I do not make these to sell. I just like to tinker around and display for all to see.

Permanent mounting plate is now made from aluminium and powder coated white to match other parts of the sled. I also replaced the HID lights with Rock's HID kit! Here's some new pics:

Here's the last and final version for my HID plate. It's less than half the weight of the original version. I bent the edges in a brake press to form the tabs, verses welding them on.

Powder coating and a Yamaha decal finished it off.

Wow very nice. I wish they had one for a viper. Or maybe I need to do the same and come up with one!

Thank you! It's nice to remove the headlight / windshield assembly and only have to disconnect the speedo and key switch leads. All the HID components stay in place without having to disconnect any of it.

It's tricky fitting everything up in there, but it's only a PITA once!
