It looks like different part numbers but that doesn't always mean the swap can't be done.
Anyone ever done this? I don't need a replacement starter. Just wondering about if I ever did need one. Seems like there are always lots of R1 starters to choose from on eBay at any given time.

I am not 100% sure but I believe yes they are the same and should work. The speed sensor is another example of diff part number but they are identical to the naked eye.

Does the R-1 have the same cranking power as the Apex. See the apex has to trun over in super cold temps.
