I like the boldness of the new Yamahas. There is no question Yamaha can absolutely make the other manufacturers look like rookies when they put their minds to it.
Led taillights, and fuel injection are cool but what's up with the windshields?
They look like they are cut into a giant V in the center. Exactly how is this a benefit to the rider?
I suspect there will be plenty of aftermarket and accessory windshields sold after the sale.

Lets not confuse the rider forward knee bangin Rev to the new more ergonomical, more natural position to ride of the new Yamaha's. IMO I think we are overstating the word rider forward in most cases on these new sleds. Yes the windshield looks low but thats easy enough to replace. Looking at the 03 vs the 06 yes the handle bars are slightly moved forward and raised and a taller seat but your knees don't look like they would be planted into the engine compartment like the DOO. Again this is all assumption from the pictures. Actual ride time will prove the postion!

Come on, there will be larger windshields available soon.
Stupid question but does the Apex have a windshield ?????

It's kind of funny that you're stating that it's more "ergonomical" than the REV but you haven't even rode one yet.
For those that have not got much time on a rider forward sled it takes some getting used to. But after a few miles on bumpy trails you won't be able to go back. I think the new Yammies are wicked. Great suspension, rider forward, great looks (except the seats), and the weights keep coming down. The rider forward was all I was waiting for....now if I could just afford one. Hey Smokey can I have some extra overtime this week?
In terms of the windshield I bet there will be several heights you can pick up before the snow even hits next year and hopefully it will be a quick switch from one to the other.

Its even funnier you missed the point!

I did not say more ergonomical than the REV. I said the new more ergonomical, more natural position to ride of the new Yamaha's.

I guess you missed the point too. Your still claiming its more "ergonomical" than something else when you haven't riden it. You only proved my point.

You are doing what I did. I looked at the clam shell windshield on the limited production Apex, and didn't look further. The Other sleds come with a mid high standard looking windshield that looks like it will do the job.
For lower temps I have a windshield extension I carry in my bag. Slip it onto the top of the windshild, and get 4-5 inches higher.

A 4-5" slip on extension, I like that idea

I've ridden a Rev (actually, quite a few Rev's and Renegades) and the wind protection SUCKS. Upper body, elbows and even legs. I am willing to bet that the 06 Yamahas aren't too much better.
I came off a 04 Rev. toa 05 RX!er and I thought the wind pertection was quitegood. I like my RX1 better but I will not judge my new 06 till I get to ride it . If it is as good as my REV, for wind pertection i will be happy. I have rode in - 40 temp. and was still happy with the REV. I am only 5' 4" so that helps.

I'm 6'5" so I guess that doesn't help
