Does the rebound also affect compression on the EC Ohlins?

I pulled the EC Ohlins from my Apex and removed the spring. I was just messing with shock by changing the rebound clicker and seeing if I could notice the difference in time as the shock re-extended (which I could). But it also appeared to get more difficult to compress the shock when the rebound is increased.
Does the rebound adjuster cause a small amount of compression change as well?

When you mean rebound increased do you mean turned in tight clockwise,if you do than yes somewhat,but if you back it out C C wise it softens the ride more or the valving allows for it to blow right thru its stroke.
 
The rebound adjuster on the EC Ohlins is the black twist knob. Rebound is how quickly the shock returns from the compressed state to the fully extended state. If the rebound is set too soft the shock will re-extend too quickly and cause kick back (the sled trys to buck you off). If the rebound is set too stiff the shock will re-extend slowly and this may not give the shock a chance to fully extend before another bump is hit which would result in a loss of travel on that occasion.

I was wondering why the rebound adjuster also seems to have an affect on the shocks compression.
