Big boy spring will be off little help in preventing the shock from blowing. You minmally need the new seal head from Ohlins and I highly recommend the revalve job.

According to a local Yamaha rep, failures of the european shocks seem to be very rare.Reaper said:Big boy spring will be off little help in preventing the shock from blowing. You minmally need the new seal head from Ohlins and I highly recommend the revalve job.
I do not know if this is because of the setup difference (stiffer spring and damping) or because of something else (like not as many units sold).
I would not be too sure about the setup not affecting the seal blowing...
Anyway, when you get a revalve, ask for the updated seal head with Ohlins part number 5129-12 (the old one was 5129-02).

Bruce did mine before the season. I ride as hard as I want with no bottoming issues to speak of. The suspension is actually a little on the firm side now. Best money spent on this sled. Except for the wear pads.

Do you have the big boy spring or not. I weight 180 with the KYB shock and want to revalve but dont know what I should do with the spring.schmeg said:Bruce did mine before the season. Hi
New to the site and to yamaha. Just got a new apex er. I was looking for some info on a revalve w/ new spring for my sled. Put 400 miles on the stock shock and it did alright, but bottomed out on some of the big stuff that i thought it should of handled. Any info would be great.
Thanks
